We first met, briefly, at the UK rock wall in 2020 through a mutual friend. Neither of us remember much from this first meeting except Abbie says she thought I was weird for climbing in jeans (which I did perfectly well in).

The next year (my junior year, Abbie's sophomore), we became good friends through climbing club. Eventually we went as a group to Red River Gorge where we talked a lot. We climbed more as a smaller group and exchanged numbers. A few days later Abbie texts me asking if I wanted to watch a movie with her (she threw her phone across the room after pressing send). This was our first date.

The months flew by after this and I realized that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I knew I wanted to do it on September 1st since it was the anniversary of us saying I love you. I had a couple, slightly more creative, ideas of how I wanted to ask her but they all fell through. So on September 1st, we went climbing at the Johnson center where we first met and then I proposed outside of the dorm where we had our first date.
