I met Jon through a mutual friend. He has been friends with Matt for ten years. Matt is married to Kathleen, who is my best friend. Matt and Kathleen thought it would be a great idea to set us up. I had always said no because I had a bad experience in a past relationship, but eventually, they convinced me to go to an Eric Church concert, mentioning that Jon would be there. I agreed because they would be there too, and I trust them.
Halfway through the concert, Kathleen told me she wanted to switch seats so she could sit with her husband, Matt. At that moment, I didn't realize they were trying to set us up. The concert was loud, so we didn’t get a chance to talk much—just exchanged a quick "hi." After the concert, we didn’t communicate further.
At the next concert, which was a Celine Dion performance, I still didn’t get to talk to him. The first time we had a real conversation was at Matt and Kathleen’s wedding, where Jon decided he wanted to pursue me seriously. A couple of days later, he added me on Facebook. We chatted for a while on Facebook Messenger until he asked for my phone number.
We made it official in Detroit while watching our favorite country singer, Eric Church, and ever since that day, we have been together!
Jon asked my parents for permission in November 2023 to propose to me. I had a feeling he would propose during our trip to Universal for my birthday in March. On my birthday, Jon, Noel, and I walked around Universal, and I thought he was going to propose then, but he didn’t. I started to think he might not propose at all.
When we went back to the hotel, that’s when he took out the ring and asked me to marry him. The rest is history. I can't wait to marry him next year!
