Jonathan and Karina first met on July 29, 2019, when they were both working at Dutch Bros. Jonathan had decided to go to the stand Karina was working at, at the time, with their mutual friends and she happened to be outside taking orders that evening. Jonathan was introduced to Karina as Farmer Jon, but to her relief that was not his real name and he was not actually a farmer. Karina said she went to visit their friends at the Dutch Bros stand Jonathan worked at the next day but she really just wanted to see him again. They hit it off right away and went on their first date on August 10th, 2019, spending the whole evening driving around the valley together because they were both too nervous to do anything else. However, this ended up working in their favor because they talked for hours about their passions, families, friendships, relationship with God, and shared love for The Office.

On the night of August 24, 2019, Jonathan asked Karina to be his girlfriend in front of his home in Scottsdale after inviting her to his sister's wedding in Prescott just a couple of weeks from then. They first fell in love with the way they could always make each other laugh, how deeply they related to each other, and the future they saw with one another early on. Over the next several years, Jonathan and Karina dated through college while Jonathan attended Scottsdale Community College earning a degree in Criminal Justice, and Karina attended Arizona State University earning a degree in Aviation Management. After graduating, they both supported each other while starting their respective careers in law enforcement and aviation management.

During the last four years, Jonathan and Karina have traveled together to Telluride Colorado, Bend Oregon, Lake Tahoe, North Carolina, Northern Idaho, Montana, Southern California, Las Vegas, and on road trips all over the state of Arizona. Their favorite things to do together include spending time outside adventuring, hiking, and off-roading, exploring historical sights, trying coffee shops, going to concerts, and traveling to new places.

Jonathan proposed to Karina on September 24th, 2023, exactly one month after their fourth anniversary, at Lost Dutchman State Park in front of the beautiful Superstition Mountains. Saying yes to marrying Jonathan was the easiest decision Karina ever made! What Jonathan looks forward to the most in marriage is continuing to support each other's careers, learning new ways to best love each other, and eventually growing their family. Karina looks forward to going through all of life's highs and lows together, being eachother’s biggest cheerleaders, and starting a family down the road.
