On July 21, 2024 Jon and Kenzie went to Crossroads Bible Church. Kenzie sat by herself because her friends at church were camping that weekend. Jon was sitting in the row behind her and ended up falling for her long, curly auburn hair. He knew he had to meet this girl. After service he noticed no one came up to talk to Kenzie, so he shot his shot and complimented her handwriting. Once they made eye contact, the world shifted for both of them. During that initial conversation Jon asked Kenzie to coffee and wrote her number down in his notebook. They made plans to get coffee later that afternoon. Kenzie left church and called all of her family to let them know she had just been asked out by a cute boy at church.
They met at 4:30 at Squibb in the Downtown Market for their first date. Two hours flew by and they left knowing something very special had just started. Jon pursued Kenzie so well, asking her for the honor of more dates, planning fun activities, and giving her so many flowers. They fished, picnicked, walked, laughed, and embraced the wonder of meeting the love of their lives. They stayed out late talking and looking at the stars. Jon asked Kenzie to be his girlfriend on August 8th after meeting Kenzie's parents. They continued to get to know each other with a camping trip with friends, long conversations, and even travelling to Hawaii in October.
God's hand of blessing was and is clearly displayed on their relationship and the obvious compatibility they have as a couple. They continued to date and fall in love through the holiday season and into the new year. They travelled to Florida with Kenzie's family for their annual trip. It was after this trip that conversations about timeline and getting married began. They told each other they loved one another on January 20th. Wedding planning began in February as Jon waited for the engagement ring to come in. April 1st, Jon proposed to Kenzie on her birthday in a very special way. He took her to a bridge near where they met and placed 20 heart locks on the bridge railing. He then pulled out the 21st lock and they placed it on the bridge to honor the day they met, July 21st. Jon read her a poem he wrote with the last line asking, will you marry me? and Kenzie said, yes!.
To God be given all the honor and glory for bringing Jon and Kenzie together after years of growth while waiting and longing for one another.
