Montanya Distillers is nestled high in the Rocky Mountains at 9,000 feet in Crested Butte, Colorado. Their rum is made by hand and from scratch. They offer daily tours, tastings, and a full rum bar with artisan cocktails and a seasonal, made-from-scratch menu. You can never go wrong with sipping on a Painkiller (Jordan's favorite), an Old Fashioned (Van's favorite), the Maharaja, a Kokomo, or a Fiery Passion. Don't be fooled, they have fantastic food and mocktails which makes it very family friendly! The Animal Fries are a must as well as the Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos. You cannot come to Crested Butte without stopping by Montanya.
These creatively named trails are close to town, relatively easy, and offer mountain views as they follow the Slate River through the valley. A popular choice for mountain bikers as well as hikers, Lower Loop connects with a few other trails, providing alternate routes such as the Woods Walk and the Budd Trail along the way. There are also a few benches on the trail inviting you to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Reminder there are NO E-BIKES ALLOWED on the trail.
From the town of Crested Butte, drive west on Elk Avenue and turn right on First Street. Make a left at the end of First Street onto Butte Ave. This turns into a dirt road and Peanut Lake Road. Park at the clearly designated area on the right side of the road ahead. There is also a restricted parking lot another 1.2 miles up the road with wheelchair access.
Riding a mountain bike or a classic Townie bike around the town is a must! Whether you want to ride down the mountain of Crested Butte or just take a leisurely ride on the town's Rec Path, Big Al's is your go-to place to rent bikes/gear for all ages!
The Rec Path connects the town of Crested Butte to Mt. Crested Butte in a little over 4 miles. The path gets steep at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, leading to more challenging walking and biking. Ride it up to get to the base area of the mountain or into town to head to the main shops on Elk Ave. The Rec Path is where Van proposed to Jordan and is surrounded by wildflowers in the summer!
