The story began in the fall of 2016, where Kayla and Jordan crossed paths at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Kayla was a Resident Advisor and Jordan was on the baseball team and they both studied Business and shared a few classes together. Jordan often referred to her to his friends as "the Hot RA". As any typical modern love story begins, their connection started when Jordan asked for her Snapchat. Through this, they noticed a cake emoji pop up for each other on October 8th meaning that they share the same birthday, a 0.27% chance. Yet, timing was never quite on their side during those college years and the two never graduated past the friendship phase. It wasn't until March 2020, when Kayla was one year post-grad and Jordan was navigating his senior year, that a Covid quarantine Snapchat finally aligned their fate. Kayla and Jordan lovingly argue over who reached out to who first with Kayla claiming she sent a "shooting my shot" snap and Jordan claiming he slid into her messages by replying to one of her posted stories. What they both agree on is that their digital reconnection sparked something undeniable. They experienced challenges figuring out how to go on a date during this time due to Covid lockdowns and their first date idea to get ice cream and walk by the lakefront was a fail due to a police barricade blocking the entrance. Their second date idea was much more successful as they took a 3 hour drive north to Devil's Lake in Wisconsin where they got to learn much about each other. Since this drive wasn't enough of a challenge, they decided to step it up a notch and drive 15 hours a few weeks later to Panama City Beach in Florida since it was Kayla's family's annual vacation destination. During a beach sunset on June 13th, Jordan asked Kayla to be his girlfriend, marking the beginning of their relationship. Fast forward to August 5th, 2023 when Kayla's family journeyed down to Panama City Beach once again. On the same beach where Jordan asked Kayla to be his girlfriend, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife, using his maternal Grandmother's diamond. From chance college encounters, to taking care of their cat Bek, to traveling the world together, their story is one of adventure, fun, and knowing that if you never shoot your shot, you'll never know what could have been.
