Matt and I met in college through a mutual friend. I had gone back to Crookston to spend the 4th of July weekend with my friend and was introduced to Matt at Maple Lake. We then spent the next year talking to each other on and off. Exactly a year later, Matt invited me to go on a camping trip with him over the 4th of July weekend. By the end of the weekend things were official. 6 years, 4 states, two dogs, and one beautiful baby boy later, we're ENGAGED!
Matt and I spent 3 years adventuring in the beautiful state of Alaska. During our time there, I fell in love with the little town of Homer. We spent our last weekend in Alaska visiting our favorite little town. On our way back to Anchorage, we decided to pull off at the overlook that looks out over Homer to get one last picture. Matt stopped and asked a random tourist to take our picture. While I was patiently waiting for him to stand next to me so we could get the picture taken, he instead got down on one knee, said some beautiful words that I can't remember because I was too busy crying (tears of joy of course), and asked me to marry him. I said "yes," and our "photographer" did an amazing job at capturing the whole thing.
