Her Story:
Left, left, left, right, left left. Who would’ve thought that one right swipe would be my Mr.Right. After several messages back and forth, Facetime calls and one failed sleepover night call, we finally met in person. I bet you can imagine how that went with me telling my dad, a former police officer, that I need a ride to the airport to fly to a guy in another state and hopefully he wasn’t a murderer. (Turns out he’s not, I’m still alive)
Our first time meeting, he picked me up from the airport (Albuquerque) and we had a three hour drive to good ol Clovis, New Mexico. Luckily, it wasn’t one of those awkward silent car rides, we jammed out to music and our conversation was easy. Once we arrived to his apartment, that was the first time we said “I love you.” I technically said it first, but he’ll say otherwise.
After several trips from Vegas to New Mexico, we started talking about me moving out to him. I couldn’t wait, at least we wouldn’t be doing distance anymore. I moved out to wonderful (disgusting) Clovis in summer of 2022 and started making ever so subtle (NOT) hints about a ring.
In October of 2023 we took a trip to Santa Fe. He took me hiking, and if you know anything about me, I HATE hiking. We hiked up this practically vertical mountain and I complained the ENTIRE time. After hours and hours of hiking we got to the top and I sat on this lovely rock. He got down on one knee and proposed, obviously I said yes or you wouldn’t be reading this.
We eloped in Lubbock, TX in November of 2023, had to get those military benefits ASAP (kidding) We had a small wedding with just our parents and it was lovely, but I needed the wedding dress, the ceremony, the friends & family, which is why we are choosing to have our big wedding with all of you.
His Story:
Love at first swipe?
Not quite but it didn't take long to figure out just how special this girl was to me. After months of texts and Facetimes, I finally convinced her to come out to Clovis, NM. A year later, full of back and forth trips between Las Vegas and Clovis, I was able to convince her to move out of Las Vegas, and in with me (Air Force perks of not being able to move).
About another year passed and every so often (every day) she'd drop hints that she was ready to be upgraded from roommate, to fiance. I figured it sounded like a good investment, but wanting to be sure of it, I decided to take her on a hike to see how she fared before popping the question.
We took a weekend trip up to Santa Fe where I planned out a nice hike that would result in a proposal, despite a light warning from her mom and dad about her feelings towards hikes. "It'll be fine" I figured to myself and after a couple hours of thinking she was going to break up with me as we leisurely strolled up some small hills, I got down on one knee and gave the most heartfelt and adorable speech anyone has ever heard, before asking her to spend the rest of her life with me. The hike back down was much better than the way up.
We had a small courthouse wedding in Lubbock, TX but knew that we wanted all of our family and friends to be there to celebrate with us too. So we got to planning and that's where you all come in. We can't wait to see everyone again, some of you for the first time in a long time, and others will be getting to meet us for the first time in general, but we hope you can all make it out to Las Vegas and enjoy a night with us!
