About Mahahual:
Mahahual is a small fishing village of about 900 inhabitants in the state of Quintana Roo and is the heart of Costa Maya, the newest tourist destination in Mexico and the jewel of the Mexican Western Caribbean. The Costa Maya region begins about 140 miles south of Cancun and stretches from the vast Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve almost to the Belize border. It encompasses huge swaths of protected jungle, a number of lesser-known Mayan archaeological sites, indigenous villages, pristine lagoons and top-notch diving on the second largest barrier reef in the world.
Mahahual has a boardwalk (aka – the Malecon) that extends over 3 km beside the beach. Offering many relaxing walks among white sand beaches with shops, bars and restaurants, all without having to worry about cars. Mahahual has many great, reef friendly water activities including stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, diving, and kayaks.
