Jordan's version:Hannah and I first met at Bluegrass Christian Camp in the summer of 2021 as camp counselors. I was a relatively new believer at the time and wasn't looking for a relationship so Hannah wasn't on my radar. We were honestly more like acquaintances while we worked together. Oddly enough, looking back at old photos from camp, we were right next to each other in almost every group photo.One of the few things I remember from our time at camp was us going on an intense hike at the Pinnacles in Berea. Hannah had a bunch of girls in her group who absolutely despised hiking and somehow I ended up in the back with them. One of the girls fell and was struggling to walk, another girl had injured herself earlier in the week, and we had fallen far behind the other campers. Although the hike was stressful and would have been exhausting for any other person, Hannah displayed a lot of patience and remained optimistic throughout the hike. I really respected Hannah after this but we didn't have a lot of opportunity to get to know each other more after the hike. I honestly didn't think we'd reconnect after that summer.Three years later, I moved from Morehead to Nicholasville when I was looking for a solid Gospel preaching church. Porter Memorial Baptist really stood out to me after hearing how solid the sermons were online and several friends who had attended in the past highly recommended it.My family was also praying through the church search process with me. My Nanny didn't just pray for me to find a Gospel-centered church, but that I'd find my wife at this church. Nanny made sure to remind me she was praying about this. Oh, boy did she remind me. My Nanny has a history of being a faithful prayer warrior for her grandsons. I definitely appreciated the prayers but I didn't take her prayers for my wife too seriously.One Sunday, I decided to try Porter Memorial out, and lo and behold, guess who is the first person I see as I walk through the church doors? None other than Hannah Elizabeth Hahnenstein was there to greet me at the door. The Lord definitely hears my Nanny's prayers!I was pleasantly surprised and relieved to know a familiar face. Shortly thereafter, she sent me a message to ask if I wanted to join the young professionals' bible study group and added me to the group chat.From there, I took her welcoming me into the group chat as an opportunity to get to know her better and texted her a bit. We only messaged for a couple days and conversation stopped for a month.In April, I was interested in Hannah at this point but I wasn't sure how to continue contact with her. I called her randomly about a mutual friend just to keep our conversation flowing. I thought it was a good move at the time but Hannah had some other opinions about my call...Thankfully, this wasn't a deal breaker for her and dating me wasn't completely off the table. For a while, I wanted to ask her out and had been diligently praying about if this was the right step.After several weeks of prayer, my uncertainties were settled after a Thursday night at Morehead's Buffalo Wild Wings (PTL for BOGO nights) made my next steps very clear. A new friend and I were eating dinner there, just getting to know each other better, when we started talking about if we were interested in any one at the time. He went first and shared with me about a girl he was interested in at church. He told me how he had been interested in her for a while and just wasn't sure if he should have the hard conversation and ask her out. I told him I was in a pretty similar situation but I never mentioned Hannah nor shared any details about my side of the story. Eventually, I asked him who this mystery girl was and he said her name was Hannah. I was floored. Did he just say Hannah? Were we talking about the same Hannah? Thankfully, his Hannah was over 100 miles away from my Hannah but I figured there was no way this could be a coincidence.That same night, I took this conversation as the clear evidence I needed to ask Hannah out. Even though the last call I had with her was random and in her words, "weird", when I asked her to go on a date with me that night, she still accepted my offer for some reason.Since Hannah is a nurse and I was living at Morehead at the time, it took us three weeks before we ended up going on our first date.A mutual friend ended up offering us some tickets to the Lexington Legends game so I thought it would be a fun way to get to know Hannah better. Before the game, we stopped by Steak and Shake for dinner and boy, was she nervous. I saw her lips quivering as she was eating her chicken fingers and fries (no wait, I had chicken fingers, she had a grilled cheese) so either she was really cold or she was feeling tense. Despite her nervousness, our conversation flowed naturally so I was optimistic about how the rest of the night would go.While at the game, I saw a side of Hannah that really intrigued me. She wasn't afraid to let loose and have some fun at the ball park. When the Cupid Shuffle came on, she was moving right and left, kicking, walkin it by herself, doing all the dance moves. I'm naturally more of a reserved person so seeing her at the park gave me the courage to join in on the dancing.Conversation continued to flow naturally, and we found out we had a lot in common. I thought the date was progressing really well until a cold chill came through the park. Hannah went out of her way to tell me her hands were freezing cold. After three times saying it, I eventually thought that Hannah was implying something. Maybe she needed someone to warm her hands...Thankfully, I had the sense to ask before I warmed them myself because she laughingly rejected my attempts at handholding. Although a little awkward at first, I tried not to look too much into it and the night ended on a high note with an awesome fireworks show. When I got home and told my family how the date went, though, they did not hold back their opinions about my handholding fail. They insisted Hannah probably wasn't interested in me after all. Great, I blew it.Nearly a month passed before we ever went on a second date, and with so much time in between, I figured she would have lost interest. I certainly had my doubts about if we would continue too, but after a second and third date, I knew that Hannah was someone special.By the third date, I felt confident that Hannah was someone who I wanted to be a constant in my life, and at a Veteran's Park picnic, I asked Hannah to be my girlfriend. She said yes!Thankfully, my folks were wrong about the whole handholding fiasco.Exactly one year later from our first date, Hannah and I reattended the Lexington Legends with her family and an engagement ring. This time, she let me hold her hand :)With so many awesome dates and stories since that first date, I could write a novel about our time together. To make a long story short, it's been an incredible year with Hannah and I'm so thrilled to say "I do" in October.

Hannah's version:Jordan and I first met in the summer of 2021 when we were working as camp counselors together. I honestly do not remember a lot about any specific interactions we had, but I do remember admiring his eagerness to share the Gospel with those around him. We saw each other here and there at other camp events but I never thought I would know Jordan outside of that.In March of 2024, I was walking past the church doors when, to my surprise, Jordan walked in. We talked for a few minutes and caught up on what each of us had been up to lately. Soon after, Jordan began to be involved in the same young adult group that I was in. A few weeks later I got a call from Jordan out of the blue- the context of that phone call is a story for another day- but the nature of that phone call was very unclear and when we hung up I was very confused as to why he even called me in the first place. To be honest I still claim it as one of the weirdest phone calls I have ever had (haha sorry Jordan). A few weeks after that, with another phone call out of the blue, Jordan asked me out.On our first date we went to Steak 'n Shake and a Lexington Legends game. I had a great time getting to know Jordan better, however, he thought I might be friendzoning him since I did not hold his hand. It didn't help that I was busy for the month of May with family trips and my work schedule so it took nearly a whole month before we could go on a second date. On our third date, June 8, 2024, we became official with a picnic in the park.Since then, we have enjoyed lots of time spent getting to know each other as well as each other's family and friends. The more time I spent with Jordan, the clearer it was to me that I wanted to marry him. The Lord has led us so clearly and God's redemptive work and kindness to us is so evident!!On March 8, 2025, after a very thoughtfully planned "amazing race", Jordan proposed at the camp where we first met. He included lots of family and friends which meant so much to me!
