THE PROPOSAL - FROM HER PERSPECTIVE:

We planned to celebrate the Easter holiday over at the Ussary house. I was so excited to get both of our families together again and for everyone to get some more quality time.

The week of, my little sister managed to convince me to get my nails done and on Friday night, best friend, Sydney came over and after spray tans we just were chatting about life and her upcoming wedding. She did amazing as I did bring up my disappointment on not getting proposed to and she told me Brett secretly told her it would be in the summer. I showed her my outfits for our upcoming photoshoot and she slyly asked what I was wearing for our Easter plans (none of this is unusual).

Saturday morning, the day of the proposal. The plan was to get ready and then go over to Brett's apartment to finish getting dressed, since he lived closer to his parents house. I was jamming out and so upset because my spray tan looked soooo good, my make up was going on perfectly. I joked in my head that today would be great to get proposed to.

I arrived to Brett's apartment and we took Maurice to the dog park and then finished getting ready. As I was trying my clothes on, Brett was not being helpful as he liked both my options but accidentally asked "what did Sydney say to wear?". I laughed and just thought he knew us well and told him which one she liked and went with it. Brett was not rushing me at all, which if you know Brett, he HATES being late and we were running behind but he was chill as a cucumber.

We showed up to Easter and I was excited to hang out with both of our families. Laura announced that before we eat, we will be doing the Ussary scavenger hunt that they always did growing up. She handed out Easter baskets to everyone and said that in the egg will either be a note, candy, or if you are lucky, a treasure map. I opened up my egg and the note said "better luck next time" while Brett got the treasure map. I jokingly pouted because I was jealous that Brett got it. We are all very competitive if you can't tell. Brett said I could come help him with the treasure map to find the golden egg.

The treasure map led us outside behind the backyard into the woods. We slowly followed the map through the woods and my suspicions started to come back. As we approached the end of the map where the big X was, I looked up and noticed a trail of rose petals leading to a blanket with a giant golden egg in the basket. At this point, I knew it was happening.

Brett led me to the blanket and I started to look around to see if there was someone taking photos or if I was just really imagining that it was happening. He opened the golden egg and laying inside was the ring box. All of a sudden, Brett gets down on one knee.

I was in absolute shock but beyond excited. My best friend and love of my life asked me to marry him and of course I said YES! I screamed on our way back "I'M ENGAGED" and everyone was outside screaming and we celebrated all as a big family.

The surprises continued. The second was going to Chicken n Pickle, expecting just to celebrate and people can play pickleball. I walked up and first saw my best friend and cousin sitting there (who live in STL) and then noticed the rest of our friends all sitting around balloons and realized Brett surprised me again with our closest friends!

It was truly such a special day and feeling so welcomed into the Ussary family. It was everything I dreamt for and more!
