Our Wedding

Jordann and Josh met in their sophomore year at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2009. Jordann joined Naval ROTC in the second half of her sophomore year where Josh had already made a name for himself as the company "ghost" (he was never around).

We Met at College

Jordann and Josh started dating in 2010 after Jordann made him walk her home from a night out with friends. Our first date we played racket ball and had deep dish pizza on campus.

Jordann and Josh graduated UIUC in 2012. Jordann with a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear, Plasma, and Radiological Sciences and Josh with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. They also commissioned as Ensigns in the United States Navy. Josh joined the aviation program and was sent to flight school in Pensacola, FL. Jordann joined the surface naval warfare program and chose Honolulu, HI as her duty station.

Josh went to flight school at NAS Pensacola for a few months in 2012.

Josh got his wings while stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas from 2012 to 2013. Jordann flew in town for the event and convinced him to adopt Lily. He spent a few months in Jacksonville, FL from 2013 to 2014 getting qualified to fly the P3. He then went to SEER school in San Diego before being reporting to his first official duty station.

Josh adopted Lily from the Humane Society in Corpus Christi Texas while Jordann was in town for his Winging ceremony.

Jordann served aboard the USS Hopper from 2012 to 2014 based in Honolulu, HI. She served as the Combat Information Center Officer, qualified as Officer of the Deck and got her Surface Warfare Office pin.

Josh proposed to Jordann on a Christmas visit to Honolulu in December 2012 while doing the Three Peaks hike.

We Got Engaged

Jordann flew into to Corpus Christi and they traveled to Austin, TX to take some engagement photos. They were prettyyy cringey. But this one's pretty cute haha.

Josh got stationed with VP-46 at NAS Whidbey Island flying the P-3 in Ana Cortes, Washington from 2014 to 2017.

Jordann went to Naval Nuclear Propulsion school in Charleston, SC from 2014 to 2015. Lily joined her here and was instrumental in her success through the program.

Jordann and Josh eloped and were officially married on December 31, 2014 in Queenstown, New Zealand. We flew out to take photos on the mountains where Lord of the Rings filmed some of the Rivendell shots.

Josh and Jordann had a wedding ceremony and reception with friends and family in January 2015.

Jordann was stationed on the USS John C. Stennis, an air craft carrier based out of Bremerton, WA from 2015 to 2018. She served as the Reactor Mechanical Division Officer. She qualified to manage operations for the reactor and mechanical plants onboard the air craft carrier. I maintain that it was easier and less stressful than the responsibility of driving the ship.

For the first time, Jordann and Josh were stationed close together. Jordann was stationed in Bremerton, WA and Josh was stationed in Ana Cortes, WA. The drive was about 2.5 hours and included a short ferry ride. This was truly some of the best times of our lives, hiking in the forests, walking around downtown Seattle, taking the ferries (ferry beers anyone?) and taking Lily on walks with Mount Ranier looming in the background. We hope to move back to the PNW some day. Unfortunately, our deployments offset each other and we spent a lot of time apart here as well.

Josh reported to VT-3 in Pensacola, FL at NAS Whiting Field in November 2017. Jordann got out of the Navy in December 2017. This is the first time in our relationship we were able to live together. We bought our first house and started settling in to make friends in Pensacola!

We adopted Comedy in January 2018. Jordann was adamant about adopting an ex-racing greyhound as fast as possible. Comedy was our first greyhound and such a special part of our lives. Earning her trust and helping her become a pet after the cruel racing industry changed the trajectory of our lives. We fell in love with with greyhounds because of her.

In early March 2018 baby Zoot came into our lives! Jordann convinced Josh we needed another dog since we had a home and a backyard. Zoot was a joyful and mischievous blessing in our lives! She also inspired our love for XXL breeds, especially great danes.

In March 2018, Jordann asked the fateful question to Mary Deaver.... "How old are you?" And thus, a friend circle was born. We were very lucky to bump into our vet and her partner at a St. Patrick's Day pub crawl on Pensacola Beach. Tuesday Run Club started up shortly after!

In April 2019 we fostered failed BB. He was set to be adopted by a family that I didn't think was quite right for him and cried to the adoption coordinator that I couldn't let him go. He has been our spicy boy ever since!

Jordann and Josh started going to DragonCon in September 2019 and now make it an annual trip. We have met many new friends there and enjoy nerding out for the weekend! Jordann's parents graciously drive down and watch the doggies every September while they are gone.

Josh reported to his last duty station in Norfolk, VA aboard the USS John C. Stennis from July 2020 to July 2021. Funny how we both finished our naval careers onboard that air craft carrier! Josh also got out of the Navy in July 2021. We were both finally free from our service!

Jordann Worked as a Water Treater for Premier Water treating all the different water systems at NAS Pensacola and the surrounding area from April 2018 to February 2022. Truly was a labor intensive "blue collar" style job that had her out in the heat way too much for her liking.

Josh worked at Sky Warrior teaching introductory Navy students how to fly the Cessna 172 from October 2021 to March 2022.

Jordann and Josh started playing Dungeons and Dragons in early 2021. It has been a wonderful hobby and game ever since. We play every Thursday online with our Eberron group since April 2021. We wrapped up a 3 year long campaign back in April 2024 with a bittersweet feeling. And we are now playing a homebrew campaign every Thrusday with the same crew!

In February 2022 Jordann sold her soul for corporate perks and started working as a Senior Consultant at SolutionsATI. She works from home and enjoys spending her days with the dogs, even though they fart in the office a lot.

Josh started working at Atlas in March 2022 and is currently working there. He works about half the month flying all over the world, delivering various cargo. His favorite place he frequently stop is Narita, Japan (close to Tokyo) because of the delicious gyoza and ramen, and because the rooms go COMPLETELY dark for excellent day time sleeping. He is also applying at Delta and American Airlines, so who knows what the future holds!

Angus came into rescue in December 2022. We started fostering him in January 2023. After putting a lot of hard work into his rehabilitation and training, we foster failed with him and officially adopted him in December 2023. He truly is a loving, loyal and very protective boy! No one is messing with me while Josh is gone with Angus around!

Josh and I have been so blessed to be living our best lives now here in Pensacola, FL. We are lucky to have the best dogs, supportive family and many local friends to enjoy our crafts and hobbies with. We are so grateful to everyone who has been a part of our journey. I hope you can come celebrate 10 wonderful years of marriage with us on December 28th!

Our Story

Lily is our first dog and was adopted from the Humane Society in Corpus Christi, Texas in 2013. She has been with us longer than we have been married.

Comedy was adopted from Birmingham Dog Track in Alabama in 2018. She was our first greyhound and is such a special sad little noodle.

Zoot was bought from a breeder in Bay Minette, Alabama in 2018. She inspired us to foster and volunteer for the local great dane rescue and help so many other danes in need.

BB was a foster fail in 2019 through the Greyhound Pets of America Emerald Coast. He raced on the Pensacola dog tracks. He wormed his way into our hearts with his spiciness and loving nature. 

Angus was our most recent foster fail through the Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue. He was surrendered to a Jacksonville shelter with his whole litter, then adopted out to an elderly couple with health issues. He is a very protective and loyal boy and we couldn't imagine him leaving our home and pack.

David is Jordann's dad and Thomas is Jordann's nephew! Thomas is 4 years old and takes after his auntie with his love for dogs. David is retired and enjoys spending his free time traveling with Jordann's mom, Michele, and spoiling his grandchildren.

Mary and Dave have been wonderful friends to us since we first met them at the St. Patrick's Day Beach bar crawl in 2018. Mary is a veterinarian and owner of Parkway Animal Hospital and takes escellent care of all 5 of our dogs. Dave is NICU nurse and Navy veteran. They are fur parents to 3 dogs: Atlas the bulldog, Tonks the wild dingo, and Frog, Tonks' pet pibble.

Natalie and Joe have been great friends to us since we first made friends in Pensacola! Natalie works in higher education and Joe was also a Navy pilot now pursuing extra degrees in computer science! Natalie and Joe are parents to a smiley baby named Amelia and two rescue hound dogs named Sadie and Oliver.

Tom is Josh's dad and has been an avid supporter of Josh and Jordann throughout their travels! Tom enjoys scuba diving and curating the perfect fish tank while his wife Karen creates masterful quilts. They live in Texas but are building their dream home in Hendersonville, NC. If you listen to Tom talk, you'll hear exactly where Josh got his inflections and mannerisms.

Josh Johnson was the first person Angus trusted after being surrendered to the rescue. Angus was (and can sometimes still be) a difficult and nervous boy to handle, so we knew Josh was the best person to handle him on the day of our Vow Renewal! Josh volunteers in the Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue and has helped care for hundreds of rescued great danes.

Jami is Jordann's sister and Evelyn is her daughter. Little Evie is 3 years old and enjoys snacks and being sassy. Jami is a working mom and loves spending her free time crafting and taking her children Thomas and Evie on fun adventures!

Where to Stay

Josh and I consider this party to be a love letter to our friends, families and hobbies. We are crafting puzzles, riddles, challenges and trivia for you all to undertake as part of our 10 year vow renewal! Each puzzle will have a traditional themed gift associated with it! You just have to participate to get a gift, you don't have to get the answer right. For those who get all or most of the answers right, we will have special gifts for you! So bring your A-game and prepare for some steep competition as we know a lot of smart and resourceful people.
