We met through mutual friends and it’s crazy that we didn’t know each other any sooner than we did. We realized we have had so many of the same friends over the years, connections, and similar interests. God’s timing is always the right timing

though and our love story proves that true. Joseph got Jordyn’s number while downtown one night with some friends and was encouraged to reach out. He told the friend he wasn’t sure what to say if he decided to reach out because he was “new to this stuff.” The friend told him to say just that, and he did. That same friend texted Jordyn saying, “I gave him your number hope that’s ok.” Joseph texted Jordyn on a Sunday night saying “Hi, I’m Joe Bechtle and I’m new to this shit” Jordyn laughed as soon as she read that text and knew this had to be the guy who got her number. Low and behold texting was consistent and there was a strong interest

from Joseph from the get go. He asked Jordyn to take her out on a date a few different times but was told that she wasn’t interested in going on any “dates” at the time. However, she was willing to continue talking and getting to know each other.

Conversation never ran out (both of us like to talk) The two finally did meet in person a couple weeks later while out for St. Patty’s day. Joseph yelled “JORDYN!” across a bar as soon as he saw her walk in. Jordyn was with a friend and was unsure what to do as the whole bar was looking around to see who Jordyn was. Jordyn walked over to Joseph and his friends, got to meet his best friend/ best man and his now wife. We chatted for a bit but then his group was heading home. That night was the first phone call for the two of them. Phone calls became a common thing and they continued to hangout in-group settings. Jordyn and a friend of hers would go to Joseph’s baseball games he was coaching and were always up for going to hangout post game with the group.

Jordyn and her sister attended one of the baseball games in Seward on a Friday night. Joseph and his brother-in-law were dog-sitting at his parents. Jordyn had a three-hour phone call that night with Joseph and his brother-in-law. Joseph told his

brother-in-law after the phone call if he were to ever get the chance to date Jordyn he was going to marry her. (That was three weeks into talking!) Baseball season kept Joseph extremely busy and Jordyn had an understanding of this from back in the day of travel ball for herself. She enjoyed supporting his team and loved being at the field cheering them on. Joseph was gone for a baseball tournament later that season in Myrtle Beach, and that’s when feelings for Joseph hit Jordyn. As much as she didn’t think she was ready, she missed him being in the same city or same state that

week he was gone. It was game over at that point. (: Jordyn wrote Joseph a letter explaining what her feelings were, where she was at with things, etc. She gave it to him after a night out for ice cream when he got back. Joseph proceeded to read that letter every night after their phone calls for a week. They continued to hang out, finally went on their first date (Yia Yia’s), enjoyed introducing each other to friends and family, and officially became a couple on November 10th, 2021.

Talks about the future started to stir and they both knew no plans would ever be complete without the other. They were in no rush but were so excited to know they were dating their forever person. A year and a half rolled around quickly and Joseph had engagement plans up his sleeve. He asked one of Jordyn’s friends to reach out and ask if we would be willing to take pictures for her to have some practice with her photography interest. They got the time set up on May 6 th, 2023 at Pioneers Park in Lincoln, NE. They were busy taking photos when the friend told the couple to face each other and hold hands for the next photo. Joseph knew that was his cue and time to pop the question. He held Jordyn’s hands and after one word got out of his mouth, Jordyn said “Jos, what are you doing?!” (LOL) Without missing a beat he

preceded talking ending with getting down on one knee asking Jordyn to marry him. Jordyn responded with “Y E S, yes!” (With her arms in the air and some tears of joy in her eyes) Joseph and his family had planned a surprise engagement party at his parent’s house with friends and family. On the way there Jordyn really wanted to face time

her best friend and sister but Joseph kept telling her to wait. When the couple pulled up to the Becthtle’s house, Jordyn realized why he wanted her to wait to call anyone as they were all waiting to surprise them and celebrate with them at the house. It was the best ending to the most perfect day. (:

Planning a wedding together has been so much fun and we cannot wait to celebrate with all of you on our big day. August 17th is going to be our new favorite day with extra special meaning and we are blessed beyond belief to have all of our favorite people come to share it with us! The love keeps getting sweeter and we can’t wait to tie the knot and become one while we celebrate with all of you.
