“I’d like to take you out sometime if you wanna get to know each other. Maybe drinks or something casual?”

After weeks of back-and-forth on Bumble, that was the message Matt sent — and Jordyn was immediately intrigued. "I'm awkward, so casual sounds nice." Jordyn replied. They decided to “meet in the middle” at a bar in Bed-Stuy. Neither had ever been to that part of town before, and funnily enough, neither has been back since.

It was a rainy night, and nerves were high for both of them. The bar was packed, and they couldn’t get a seat — but somehow, it didn’t matter. Conversation flowed effortlessly, and laughter came easily. It already felt different.

A week later came their second date: dinner. Early in the night, Matt excused himself to go to the bathroom, only to return moments later explaining that he actually just had a rock in his shoe. The honesty and silliness of that admission instantly put Jordyn at ease.

Two days later came the third date, and that one lasted over ten hours. By the end of it, it was clear they had something truly special.

The excitement was palpable but was quickly followed by a rush of anxiety. There was a topic they had to broach.

After yet another amazing date, Jordyn finally asked, “So what’s the catch?” Matt laughed and admitted that he’d recently gotten out of a serious relationship. To his surprise, Jordyn had too. As they realized how similarly their timelines aligned, it felt like fate, kismet.

From there, life unfolded naturally. With Mabel by their side, they became a family of three — building a home filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of dog kisses.
