Jory and Kendra met the way most crazy kids nowadays meet…naturally through the many dating apps. Fate must’ve really been on their side for their paths to cross, as there were multiple opportunities for a much sweeter meet cute story. You see, Jory happened to be on his month long pediatric PA rotation on the other side of Kendra’s work building. On his first day, Jory accidentally walked into the Kendra’s clinic looking for his pediatrician preceptor. Kendra heard of the goofy student lost in the building when she was getting her patient from the waiting room, but he was already out the door when she got there. Jory spent almost every lunch hour that month in the shared break room, if only Kendra would’ve came in to warm up her lunch. Additionally, Jory’s PA roommate Jayden and his wife Mariah also worked with Kendra’s friend Taylor. Jory happened to be staying at Jayden and Mariah’s home that month as well, and had already met Taylor. Again, there were many opportunities that were missed for that romcom like introduction. Instead it was a quick swipe right during his last couple days in Cedar Rapids before leaving town for the next rotation back near his hometown. Jory and Kendra chatted through the app, but Jory quick wittedly offered his number. Bumble quickly went away and texting turned to FaceTime, where Kendra was trying to figure out if his kindness was altruistic or a scheme. This turned to their first date in person. Jory pulled out the stops with flowers, her favorite candy, axe throwing that led to him using his ER skills as Kendra cut her finger on an axe. The competition was followed by food and ended with ice cream - as all good dates should. Time continued to pass and he moved from “PA boy” in Kendra’s conversations with friends to Jory. The two spent many months traveling between Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, as well as many more months apart as Jory was traveling the Midwest for school. Upon graduation, Jory moved to Cedar Rapids. Kendra moved in a few months later. A few more months passed filled with boating on the Mississippi here in Prairie Du Chien, getting apples and comparing apple cider donuts, sand volleyball, hikes, national parks and sporting events, witch trials, buying a house, and many more adventures. The Proposal: Jory decided to propose using a Harry Potter book, Kendra’s all time favorite book series, cut out pieces of pages to the chapter titled “The Unbreakable Vow”. He remembered this chapter from reading the books the previous year since they were so important in Kendra’s life. Tied inside was a ring. It was darn near perfect! His original plan included the overlook at Pikes Peak State Park - one of Kendra’s favorite places. However, Kendra unknowingly put a kibosh on that by adamantly telling Jory we weren’t going there because we’re celebrating Christmas. It was the 23rd of December when he handed Kendra the book and got Dan on one knee. In true Kendra fashion, she immediately inquired on why he had brought “her Harry Potter book”. But as soon as she opened the book her confusion went to shock and awe. It was the easiest and best yes! Jory and Kendra are both beyond excited for the big day and cannot wait to celebrate with all their family and friends!
