Jose and Shallon met in January of 2021 when they matched on Tinder. For our more seasoned guests, that's a dating app on your phone. Shallon was immediately attracted to Jose's athletic physique; Jose swiped right for Shallon's pretty blue eyes. After chatting for a bit, they decided to go on a date. Jose invited Shallon over for supper at his place in Lloydminster. It would be a 2 hour drive from Camrose for Shallon to meet a stranger at his place, alone, for the first time (potential start of a Netflix true crime documentary).
As fate would have it, just 20 minutes outside of Lloyd, Shallon hit the ditch during a, as described by her, heavy snow storm. For our non- Canadian friends, hitting the ditch = sliding off the road into the side of the road, aka the ditch, and getting stuck in the deeper snow. She texted Jose, and he reluctantly offered to drive out to help dig her out. Don't judge him, it was cold. However, Shallon ended up getting help from a friendly farmer, who pulled her out with his tractor. Long story short, supper got cold.
Jose and Shallon hit it off on their first date and they continued to make the long drives to see each other as much as they could. Jose got invited to go on a family trip early into the relationship where he was quickly accepted into the tribe. Shallon and Jose got their first dog, Peter, early into dating. The first cat, Oliver, joined the family when they were living together for the first time in Edmonton. After a bit, Oliver got lonely. So they got another cat, Lucy, the princess of the house. On a somewhat impulsive decision, Sofia joined the household last, because now Peter was feeling left out when the cats played with each other. Needless to say, with 4 fur babies and 1 and half adults, there's never a dull day at the Arellano Welsh residence.
Shallon finished her nursing degree and now works in the emergency department of a major hospital in Edmonton, where she experiences the most gruesome situations and later attempts to tell Jose about them (he zones out). Jose works for a major airline based in Edmonton where he pretends to know what he's doing as 150,000 lbs of metal move at 500 miles per hour through the sky (Shallon also zones out when he talks about airplanes).
