It’s … a long story

Our story begins at the Yulan Ball Field, a place very near and dear to our hearts, where we would later share our first home together. Although we did not know much of each other during our Little League days, our paths did cross, and Josef certainly made his mark. While Olivia was playing with the sand and doing cartwheels in the outfield, Josef was demanding an endless supply of blue Powerade and prioritizing his after school activities how he saw fit. For example, one day during practice, Josef walked up to his assistant coach, who happened to be Olivia’s Dad, and told him he would be leaving practice early that day, as he needed to attend his Mom’s jewelry party. From that moment on, Josef was referred to by the Shultis family as, “Jewelry Party Joe Haas”. Little did we know, those two equally non athletic kids would end up where we are today. Despite growing up in the same town and attending school together for our entire lives, there was one night when we had the opportunity to truly meet one another - the Yulan Fire Department Installation Dinner, 2018. We both swiftly realized after chatting throughout the evening that there was more to our story. From there our relationship grew each day, learning more about each other and becoming part of one another’s family. We have seen each other through many stages of life - the long distance college years, the Army training letter writing period, the quarantine social distanced walks just to see each other in person, the police academy days, and so much more. Bringing us all the way to today, where we continue to support each other’s endeavors and passions, and always being one another’s rock, shoulder to cry on, and home. We are so excited to see what the future holds for us and to share this special day with everyone who has helped write our story so far.
