Our story began in January 2012. Joe was taking accounting courses for his job at the time and Kavan had just started her journey towards her career in finance. It was love at first sight. Joe with a freshly shaved head was arriving to class straight from work still wearing his work attire (dress shirt, tie, and dress pants). Unintentionally looking handsome. Joe was already seated when Kavan walked into the classroom. She caught his attention immediately with her beautiful eyes and he felt a connection instantly, like they were destined for each other. After class, he chased her down the hallway and asked her to get coffee sometime. And the rest as they say is history.
The following years were filled with laughter, cinematic adventures, exploring various food cuisines as we are both foodies, and adventures including road trips to Atlantic City, NJ; New Hope, PA, and Newport, RI. Together we enjoyed life, trying new things, learn from each other, and most importantly grow together. We are ready to start the next chapter in our lives as husband and wife and we’re so excited to celebrate this moment surrounded by the people who’ve been part of our journey.
We went to Las Vegas in the last week of October as a dual celebration. To celebrate Kavan’s birthday and an early 40th birthday celebration for Joe. He had been wanting to go to this cigar event called “The Big Smoke” which was held annually in Las Vegas. Kavan came up with the idea to celebrate both birthdays together so they flew to Las Vegas. Joe made reservations for Kavan’s birthday at one of their favorite restaurants, Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen. Joe and Kavan were both big fans of the show as they have seen all 23 seasons and Joe wanted their own “Hell’s Kitchen” moment. It started out as any normal dinner with Joe and Kavan both ordering cocktails with their appetizers. Kavan got the Notes from Gordon (a gin drink) and Joe ordered a smoked old fashioned. When the drinks arrived, Joe’s came in style in a smoked glass box. It was like a small theatrical show for a cocktail. Things continued as normal. Dinner was served next followed by Joe and Kavan both debating what to order for dessert. Dessert followed shortly after with Joe ordering another “smoked old fashioned” to accompany his dessert. Dessert was served with Joe’s cocktail following next. The waiter told Kavan to record with her phone for their special presentation again. Joe opened the smoked filled glass box, but this time there was no cocktail but an engagement ring! Joe took the ring and got down on one knee asking the most important question in his life. Will you marry me? She said yes! And everyone in the restaurant applauded and cheered in celebration! It was a Hell’s Kitchen memory they will never forget.
