FAQ

It can be difficult to predict exactly what to expect at any wedding! Please see the FAQ below, but don't hesitate to reach out with any lingering questions!

When should I RSVP by? How should I RSVP?

RSVP information will be provided on formal invitations.

Are children welcome?

Children of all ages are welcome. The reception space is in the midst of multiple aquariums that should prove fascinating to children and adults alike!

What is the dress code?

The suggested dress code for our wedding is semi-formal attire, but our goal is for our guests to dress comfortably and enjoy their night, regardless of their attire.

Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

Both the ceremony and reception are taking place in the Museum and Aquarium. Following the ceremony, guests can head straight to the reception hall where we will be serving light appetizers and drinks for cocktail hour.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors?

The ceremony and reception will both be indoors, but guests will have the option of visiting the Museum's patio during the reception, weather permitting.

What can I expect for food and drink?

Dinner will be served buffet style. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available. If you have any dietary restrictions, please indicate so when you RSVP. An open bar will be available during the reception.

Is there a reserved block of hotel rooms?

There are no reserved hotel room blocks. Please visit our accommodations tab to see hotels within walking distance of the venue.

Will transportation be provided between the to and from the hotel and Museum?

Transportation is not available between local hotels and the Museum and Aquarium. We recommend either selecting a hotel within walking distance of the venue, utilizing a ride-share service, or designating a driver.

Is parking available on site?

Free parking is available on site.

Will the Museum be open to explore during the wedding?

The Museum and Aquarium will have select exhibits open during the wedding reception. Please take the time to explore!

What time should guests arrive by?

We ask that all guests arrive by 5:00pm, as the ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30pm.

Are you having an unplugged ceremony?

Please keep cellphones away during the ceremony, as our photographer will be capturing those memories. Guests can feel free to use cell phones during the remainder of the celebration.

Who are the animals in your engagement photos?

Our engagement photos were taken on Jo's parents' hobby farm in Amana, IA. Maggie (the cow), Sebastian (the incredibly angry goose), White Turkey (the turkey), Black and White Ducks (the Muscovy ducks), and Spotted Hen (the hen) and Little Red Hen Jr (the rooster) all participated. Clover (black dog), Hummus (smaller dog), and Acorn (KuneKune pot-bellied pig) also made an appearance.
