Some people believe life is all planned out, that "the one" is out there waiting. Some say life is all about turning opportunities into action and making "the one" a reality. Why not both? The back story that brings all of you to this happy day was made up of a series of chance moments tied together by fate. Jody and Josh met by chance on a crisp November evening at their mutual friend, Shayna's, apartment in the Fall of 2012. Jody was down from Orono with her friend Hilary over Thanksgiving break while attending UMaine. For Josh, it was just another typical night out in Portland with his best friend Kris. Kris and Josh always joked about finding two girls to date who also were good friends. It would just make everything so much easier! Was this idea fate or a plan ready to be put in motion?Our story begins to gain traction later that night at the night club "The Pearl". Josh decided that opportunities like this don't come up everyday and he REALLY wanted to dance with Jody. Now at this point in the night neither Jody or Hilary had paid much attention to Josh or Kris. That was all about to end. Josh went up to the bar and ordered a couple drinks for the girls who were out on the dance floor empty handed. He then grabbed Kris and dragged him out onto the floor as he couldn't do this alone! Kris started dancing with Hilary and Josh got his chance to dance with Jody. And from that moment on.... Kris and Hilary were inseparable. Not exactly the start of a relationship for Jody and Josh like Josh had hoped... But it was the start of something much more important to our story, the spark of a friendship. As months went by and Kris and Hilary dove deep into their new found love, Jody and Josh were front row spectators for it all. Josh would always make jokes about how Jody was the one for him and that someday he'd have his chance again. All his friends passed it off as Josh being Josh, always joking around. This carried on for a couple years, but the subtle idea of it all began to stick.In June of 2014, our Bride of the story started thinking of Josh a little differently. It was around this time that our Best Man, Andrew, pointed out to her, "you keep saying you're tired of dating guys who never pan out to anything, you know there's someone who's been right under your nose who pretty much worships the ground you walk on, why not give him a shot?" So she did, she reached out to Josh to see if he wanted to hang out sometime. Two years in the making, Josh knew this was the moment he had been hoping and waiting for. They spent that Saturday together with friends, going to a Brew Fest and then mini-golfing with each other. When Josh dropped her off that night they shared what would eventually become eachothers' last first kiss.Less than a week later they were meeting each others' families, going to weddings and seeing each other as much as possible over the summer, knowing that when fall came, their relationship may get put to the test. The week prior to all this, Jody accepted a teaching job in Orono, 2 hours north of where Josh lived. But they made it work for that first year, seeing each other on weekends. Jody without hesitation began searching for a teaching position near Portland and on their one year anniversary, Jody finally made the move south to begin teaching in Windham during the fall of 2015. In September, they rescued their first "child", their dog Max. It was around that same time during the fall that Josh began to move into the next phase of the relationship plan. There's one thing that Jody loves more than anything and that is ridiculous, cheesy, romantic, Christmas time love story movies. All the better if they take place in NYC, as most of them do. Josh, never one to shy away from making a big scene and being the center of attention, thought of the perfect place and time to propose to Jody, Center Ice at Rockefeller Plaza, the Saturday before Christmas. Through a lot of co-ordination with family and friends, he slowly made his elaborate idea into a plan and then his plan into reality. The night came together perfect, Jody was completely caught off guard and there they were skating around in the middle of the ice rink, under the biggest Christmas tree in the world when Josh dropped down to one knee and popped the question (without slipping and falling mind you). A story of well planned opportunities. A story of two friends and just a few of the events that led them to become the future Mr. &amp; Mrs. Lagasse.

Jody's older sister. As children, Jody always looked up to Kasey, even when Kasey didn't want her younger sister around. As the girls got older, they transitioned from just being sisters and became friends too. They have experienced the big moments of life so far by each other's sides, and the small ones too. Jody has never imagined anyone else standing beside her on her wedding day and can't wait to have Kasey there by her side.

 Josh met Andrew in February of 2006 on a campus trip to Quebec. Shortly after Josh pledged Beta Theta Pi at the University of Maine where Andrew was a member. Andrew was assigned to be Josh's big brother during the pledging process. The week Josh became a brother was the week Andrew was to graduate. But he came back in the Fall to further continue his education. Andrew truly became the big brother that Josh never had. Spending many adventures together. For the past 10.5 years they have been the best of friends. Living together in Gorham from 2012 to 2015.

Kris and Josh were also brothers of Beta Theta Pi at UMaine, however, it was their years after college that bonded them as best friends. Upon graduating from college both Kris and Josh had 9-5 jobs in Portland and were looking to move out of their parent's homes to strike out on their own. Together they found an apartment in Portland's Old Port Area and split the rent. From that moment on they did  EVERYTHING together. Including moving to Gorham when Josh bought his home in 2012. One of the absolute best memories they shared was the night that they, together, met their future wives, something they had always joked about happening each time they went out on the town. Josh had the honor of standing next to Kris as his Best Man as Kris tied the knot with Hilary. And just over Hilary's shoulder was Jody.  Best friends marrying best friends, a love story doesn't get much better than that!

Jody's sorority sister, roommate in college, and one of her best friends. Hilary can always be counted on for a great time and girl talk. The two spent many days and nights together doing just this while at UMaine and continue to do so whenever they can!

Jody's friend from Windham Primary School. Jody met Kayla during her interview for the school, and as soon as she was hired the two become great friends. From working out after school to pedicures to wine nights, the two never fail to have a good time.

Ohhhh Pretty Ricky. There's some people in your life that words are unable to express the relationship that you share. This is certainly the case here. Josh met Rick when he joined Beta in the Spring of 2006 (common theme here). We'll call it the Frenchman connection. Some of the goofiest, craziest, funniest, most genuine memories of college life were spent together. Josh and Rick served as President and Vice President of Beta in 2007 and Josh was Rick's Best Man at his wedding. The truest of friends and the best of brothers.

There's a specific place a fraternity man holds in his heart for his own pledge brothers. Jamie and Josh were lucky to share unique experience of going through pledging together in the Spring of 2006, an experience that changed both of their lives, for good. As two of the youngest members of the fraternity they were fortunate to share a room together in the Big Ol' Red House. Immediately they found a respect for each other, whether it was studying, socializing or conducting fraternity business. Jamie grew up 10 minutes from UMaine. Instantly took Josh on as his brother, inviting him to his family home, going to hockey games in box seats and introducing Josh to countless people beyond the Beta walls. Jamie truly made the Bangor area finally feel like a second home for Josh.

Jody's friend from high school. Ally is always up for an adventure and doesn't waste a moment of opportunity. No matter how far apart life has taken them they are always able to pick right back up where they left off and their friendship never falters.

 Jody's friend from Windham Primary School. Kara taught across the hall from Jody during her first year and they would often get caught up after school chatting with one another. Now they are great friends!

Can you imagine Josh met Matt at Beta in college? The trend continues. Everyone has that one buddy, that nocturnal friend who really only comes out at night. Some of the best memories you can't remember. Josh and Matt had that dependable night life connection. One could always count on the other to go out for a beer or two or three or four. Matt and Josh's friendship grew even stronger when Matt and his now wife Meghan, moved to Portland. From summer days out on the boat to many nights out in Portland to being Matt's Best Man at his wedding, every solid adventure involved Potvin being there.

Josh's sister. She is one of the most kind and thoughtful people that Jody has ever met, always thinking of others before herself. From day one, Allyson made Jody feel like a welcome and included part of their family. Jody is so honored to have her as her sister-in law!

Mike has always been one of the most dependable brothers a Beta could ask for and there is no exception when it comes to his friendship with Josh. Mike was Josh and Kris' "half roommate" when they lived in Portland. Mike would crash with them on the weekends. To many Mike plays the quiet role in the group. But to those who know him, well, they know it's his willingness to go the extra mile for a friend, regardless of the situation, that is his loudest quality that shines through with everything he does. Mike truly is that friend who you know will drop everything to help you out in a pinch.
