Our Story

The Lanes

Like many modern-day romances, our story begins on... you guessed it... Tinder. Hannah had no other choice but to "swipe right" after being drawn in by photos of a long-haired, shark holding, robotics engineer with a dog named YONAH! (Hannah also had a dog named Yonah... coincidence much?!)

After meeting, the pair were surprised by the amount of "coincidences" that seemed to connect them. Between the mountain tattoos that adorn each of their chests, family members living within the same town but a state away, to their pups sharing an uncommon name and many others- the coincidences started to feel more like fate.

The two became quickly infatuated with one another. But, they parted ways after a few months of dating, not because of incompatibility, but out of a desire to develop themselves, individually, before committing to what they knew would be a very serious relationship.

Two years later, Hannah decided that it was time to put herself out there again. So, to Tinder she went and began swiping. On a Tuesday night in January of 2021, Hannah arrived to Mazzy's Sports Bar to meet a new first-date. Once Hannah sat down at the bar, a familiar face approached, Josh. Neither of the two are "bar-fly's", so to be in the same sports bar on a Tuesday night, could also be argued as another chance at fate- we like to think so anyways.

Hannah told Josh that she was there on a first-date and that her new suitor would be arriving any minute. They quickly chatted, sharing pleasantries before the "I'm here" text came through. And like that- Josh was gone again.

The first date went as well as any could go with a former frat-bro whose repertoire of conversation was built only from his glory days of highschool. All the while, Hannah just wanted to be over with Josh, making up for lost time.

Somewhere between the monotonous, keg-stand ladened stories, approached a bartender who smirked, slid a glass of Chardonnay across the bar and said, "This is from Josh."

Although the story could end here as "the rest is history", it is our favorite story to tell, so we will keep going.

Hannah and her date decided to take the conversation from the bar to the pool tables. Unbeknownst to them, Josh and his wingman paid-off the hostess to, conveniently, place the pair at the neighboring table. Hannah's date was less-than-amused at the repetitive offers from Josh to "play doubles" and surmised that this must have been the Chardonnay-sender.

Josh and Hannah snuck in bits of conversation during her dates' bathroom trips. Most of which consisted of Hannah pleading with Josh to quit staring and making it obvious that the two were familiar.

Before Hannah left for the night, Josh made sure that the two would connect again and offered to give her "a real ride home"... whatever that means. Although smooth wouldn't be the way to describe that offer, he sure was excited to reconnect- and so was she.

Two years later, the pair have become an inseparable team, working together to create their dream life and home. They have remodeled two homes together, added 1 dog to their pack of 4, and revisited that same ole' sports bar to take their engagement photos- honoring the place that made it all possible.
