It was autumn of 2023 when their story began. Josh was living in Houghton going to school at Michigan Tech, and Liz was in town visiting her friends for the weekend. They met through a mutual friend who played the role of matchmaker remarkably well. The following Friday Josh asked Liz out on a date, and when he called, she eagerly said yes. They spent the next few hours together realizing that something special was going on. By the end of the weekend they decided to start dating, and that Sunday Liz left for Cedarville. October 7th, 2023 was the beginning of who they are today, laying the foundation for their shared journey and growth. While Liz went back home to Cedarville, and Josh continued his degree in Houghton, the challenge of a long-distance relationship ultimately strengthened them both individually and in their shared faith. Over nine months, filled with the trials and joys of traveling to see each other, they persevered. On July 21st, during a visit to Josh's family in Brighton, Josh had a special surprise in store. After church on a sunny Sunday morning, he took Liz for a walk in the field behind the church, knelt down, and proposed. Of course she said yes!
