DO I NEED A PASSPORT TO TRAVEL TO COLOMBIA?

Yes, you MUST have a valid passport to enter Colombia. It must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned travel dates. Make sure your passport is not damaged and has at least one blank page for the entry stamp.

WILL MY U.S. PASSPORT WORK FOR ENTRY?

Yes, U.S. passports are fully accepted for entry into Colombia.

DO I NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO COLOMBIA?

No visa is required for U.S. citizens traveling to Colombia for tourism, for stays of up to 90 days. Just make sure: 1. Your passport is valid for the entire duration of your stay (ideally 6 months beyond your return date).2. You complete the Check-Mig online immigration form before your trip. Remember, this form must be filled out between 72 hours to 1 hour before your flight to Colombia. DO I NEED ANY VACCINES OR SPECIAL DOCUMENTATION TO ENTER?

No vaccines are currently required for entry into Colombia from the U.S.However, if you plan to visit certain rural or jungle regions, a Yellow Fever vaccine is recommended (not mandatory unless you're coming from certain countries in Africa or South America).As of now, COVID-19 vaccines or tests are not required, but always check the airline or embassy website for the most up-to-date info before your trip.

ARE THERE ENTRY TAXES OR FORMS I NEED TO COMPLETE?

There is no entry tax for U.S. tourists arriving by air to Colombia. If you are carrying more than $10,000 USD in cash (or the equivalent in another currency) or high-value goods, you must declare them at customs upon arrival. Personal items such as phones, laptops, and cameras for personal use do not need to be declared. In addition, all travelers entering Colombia must complete an online immigration form called Check-Mig, which is a mandatory pre-registration form issued by the Colombian immigration authority.You must complete the form between 72 hours and 1 hour prior to your flight to Colombia. WILL TRANSPORTATION BE PROVIDED FROM THE AIRPORT?

No, transportation from the airport to your hotel is not included. However, you have three easy options once you arrive in Bogotá: 1. Book airport transportation through your hotel. When making your reservation (please check the “Where to Stay” section for the designated hotels for the wedding) you can often request a pickup service from the airport. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;-&nbsp;Contact the hotel directly&nbsp;(by email or phone, usually listed on their website).·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ask for an&nbsp;“airport pickup shuttle”.·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Provide: Your&nbsp;flight number, your arrival date and time and how many passengers + luggage 2. Although we will all be staying in Bogotá, the wedding will take place at a beautiful&nbsp;hacienda located approximately one hour and thirty minutes outside the city.To ensure your comfort and a smooth experience, we have coordinated transportation&nbsp;exclusively from some designated hotels in Bogotá&nbsp;to the hacienda and back.For this reason, we&nbsp;kindly ask—and require—that all guests stay at one of these hotels, as it is the only way we can guarantee your transportation to and from the wedding venue.If you choose to stay elsewhere, you are, of course, welcome to do so. Getting around Bogotá is quite manageable, especially if you’re staying at one of the&nbsp;designated hotels. Here are your main options: - Taxis:&nbsp;Readily available throughout the city. Please note that taxis in Colombia must be paid in&nbsp;cash (Colombian pesos). For safety, we recommend requesting a taxi through your hotel.- Ride-sharing apps:&nbsp;Uber is commonly used and generally safe and reliable.- Walking:&nbsp;In areas like&nbsp;116, Zona G,&nbsp;Zona T, or&nbsp;Parque de la 93, walking during the day is a pleasant way to explore nearby restaurants and cafés.- Rental cars:&nbsp;If you prefer more flexibility, you can rent a car directly at&nbsp;El Dorado International Airport. Are U.S. dollars accepted?

NO.U.S. dollars are NOT accepted&nbsp;for purchases in Colombia. You will need to pay in&nbsp;Colombian pesos&nbsp;for all local expenses.

What’s the local currency?

The local currency in Colombia is the&nbsp;Colombian Peso (COP).Prices are usually shown with a&nbsp;$&nbsp;sign, but it's not U.S. dollars.For example,&nbsp;$20,000 COP is approximately $5 USD (depending on the exchange rate).

Should I bring cash or can I use my credit card?

It may take&nbsp;2–7 business days, so plan ahead. This is a convenient way to have cash ready when you land, especially for your first taxi ride or snack at the airport.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

Not necessarily! While&nbsp;Spanish is the official language&nbsp;in Colombia, many travelers get by with just a few key words and a smile.It’s helpful to know some basic phrases, but you don’t need to be fluent, especially in areas like airports and hotels.

Will people at the hotel or airport speak English?

Yes,&nbsp;staff at major hotels and El Dorado Airport&nbsp;usually speak at least basic English, and they’re used to assisting international travelers.In restaurants, shops, or taxis, English may be less common, especially outside of tourist areas, so having a few Spanish phrases handy can be very helpful. Don’t worry! If you’re ever unsure how to say something or need help understanding someone, you can&nbsp;use Google Translate on your phone&nbsp;to assist with communication. Just remember, whether you’re using a few Spanish phrases or relying on your phone,&nbsp;Colombians are known for their kindness and patience. 🛍️ What to Pack for Bogotá and Colombia

What’s the weather like in Bogotá in September?

Colombia is a country without the traditional four seasons like the U.S. Instead, its climate varies greatly depending on the region and altitude. Since Colombia is located near the equator, the temperature stays fairly consistent year-round, but weather can differ a lot between cities. Bogotá, where our wedding will be, is quite unique because of its high altitude, about 2,600 meters (8,500 feet) above sea level.&nbsp;This means Bogotá tends to be cooler than many other parts of Colombia. In September, expect cool, often chilly weather with frequent rain showers. Temperatures usually range from about 8°C (46°F) at night to 18°C (64°F) during the day. Note: If you plan to travel beyond Bogotá and visit other cities like&nbsp;Cartagena, Medellín, or Barranquilla, be sure to check the local weather (of those cities) before packing. While Bogotá is always cool, many other parts of Colombia are&nbsp;warm and tropical year-round, with temperatures often in the 80s–90s °F (27–35°C). So pack accordingly if you’re heading to the coast or other regions!

What should I pack for sightseeing?

For exploring Bogotá and nearby areas, bring comfortable walking shoes, a waterproof jacket or umbrella (because of the frequent rain), and layers like sweaters or light jackets. Sunglasses and sunscreen are good for daytime too since the sun is strong even on cold days.(Yes, even if it feels cold cold cold!)

Are electrical outlets the same as in the U.S.?

Yes!&nbsp;Colombia uses the same voltage (110V) and plug types (Type A &amp; B)&nbsp;as the United States. That means:-You&nbsp;won’t need a power adapter or voltage converter&nbsp;if you’re coming from the U.S.-Standard U.S. chargers for phones, laptops, hair dryers, and other electronics will work just fine

Any cultural etiquette or dress norms I should know?

Yes. And this is important to know for your comfort and to blend in with local customs: - Bogotá is a stylish, urban city, and locals generally dress more&nbsp;formally and modestly, even for casual outings.- Due to the&nbsp;cool climate and cultural norms of Bogotá, it’s&nbsp;not common to see women wearing shorts, skirts or very short dresses, especially in city settings.- Likewise,&nbsp;men rarely wear shorts&nbsp;in Bogotá unless they’re exercising. Opt for jeans, slacks, or casual trousers instead. A good rule of thumb: dress in&nbsp;layers, and go for&nbsp;smart-casual or neat everyday wear&nbsp;when out in public spaces like cafés, museums, or restaurants. You don’t need to be fancy, but looking a little polished is appreciated in Bogotá culture. And as always: a warm&nbsp;“Buenos días”&nbsp;and a kind smile will take you far.

Before arriving in Colombia, it is very important that you complete the online Check-Mig form. This pre-registration allows immigration authorities to already have information about your trip, including the purpose of your visit and your travel details. 🛂 What Happens When You Arrive in Colombia? (Immigration & Customs)

When you arrive in Bogotá at El Dorado International Airport, you will go through three steps before leaving the airport: Immigration, Baggage Claim, and Customs. The process is usually simple and well organized. 1. IMMIGRATION (PASSPORT CONTROL) After getting off the plane, follow the signs for Immigration or Migración. An immigration officer will review your passport and may ask a few simple questions about your trip.You may be asked questions such as: • What is the purpose of your visit?• How long will you be staying in Colombia?• Where will you be staying? For this reason, we recommend having the following information easily accessible:• Your flight number (the flight you just arrived on)• Your hotel reservation confirmation, including the hotel address• Your return flight information In some cases, the officer may also ask whether you have funds available for your stay in Colombia. This is simply to verify that visitors have the means to support their trip.Please note that immigration lines can sometimes be long, especially if several international flights arrive at the same time. Do not worry if this happens. Just be patient and follow the process. Once you reach the officer, the interview itself usually takes only a few minutes. In our experience, the process has been very easy. Josh has gone through immigration in Colombia twice on his own without any difficulty. Each time he was simply asked for his flight number and proof of where he would be staying. Because he had already completed the Check-Mig form and indicated that the purpose of his visit was tourism, the process was quick and smooth.Once the officer reviews your information, they will stamp your passport and welcome you into Colombia. 2. BAGGAGE CLAIM After immigration, you will proceed to baggage claim to collect your checked luggage. 3. CUSTOMS Once you have your luggage, you will pass through customs before exiting the airport, whether or not you have anything to declare.Everyone must go through the final customs screening in order to leave the airport.You will simply place your suitcases, carry-on bags, backpacks, and purses on the scanning belt for inspection. If you have nothing to declare, you will be able to proceed directly to the airport exit. If you are traveling with more than $10,000 USD in cash (or the equivalent in another currency), Colombian customs regulations require that it be declared upon arrival by informing the customs officer and completing a declaration form at the airport. To do this, simply inform the customs officer and complete the declaration form provided at the airport. This is a standard procedure and helps ensure compliance with international financial regulations. If you are carrying less than $10,000 USD, NO declaration is required. If you are traveling with high-value goods or expensive electronics, you may also be asked to declare them. Personal items such as phones, laptops, and cameras for personal use do not need to be declared.

Altitude Tips – What to Know About Bogotá’s High Elevation

Bogotá sits high in the Andes Mountains, and&nbsp;some visitors do feel mild symptoms of altitude adjustment, especially in the first day or two. Others might not notice it at all, it varies person to person. Common symptoms&nbsp;can include:- Slight headache- Mild dizziness or lightheadedness- Fatigue or shortness of breath, especially when walking uphill or climbing stairs- Trouble sleeping the first night- Faster heart rate BUT Don’t worry, most symptoms are&nbsp;mild and temporary, and there are some easy ways to feel better faster: - Hydrate well: Before and after arrival, altitude can make you feel dehydrated.- Take it easy the first 24 hours: Rest, avoid heavy exercise, and give your body time to adjust.- Eat light meals: Avoid too much alcohol or caffeine early on.- Walk slowly: If you're going uphill or notice you’re short of breath, this is completely normal!- Sunscreen is important: The sun is stronger at high altitudes even when it's cloudy. WEDDING CEREMONY & RECEPTION DETAILS

We are delighted to invite you to celebrate our wedding on&nbsp;Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the beautiful: Hacienda San Sebastián﻿Subachoque–El Rosal #Km 3, El Rosal, Cundinamarca, Colombia. The ceremony will begin promptly at&nbsp;4:00 PM, but we kindly ask all guests to&nbsp;arrive between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM&nbsp;to ensure a smooth and relaxed start.

TRANSPORTATION TO THE HACIENDA (VENUE)

Since the hacienda is located approximately&nbsp;two hours from Bogotá, we have arranged transportation for all international guests staying at the designated wedding hotels. (Please refer to the&nbsp;“All You Must Know Before Your Travel to Colombia”&nbsp;section for hotel details.) To allow ample travel time and avoid any delays:We kindly ask that you and your party be&nbsp;fully dressed and ready by 1:00 PM.Please be in the&nbsp;lobby of your hotel no later than 1:00 PM, where transportation will be waiting.This means your morning is free to enjoy at your leisure. We just ask for punctuality in the early afternoon.

AT THE HACIENDA

Once you arrive at the venue, all that’s left to do is&nbsp;relax, celebrate, and enjoy&nbsp;the many surprises we have lovingly planned for you.At the end of the evening (around&nbsp;12:00 AM), return transportation will be provided&nbsp;to the same wedding hotels. This way, you’ll be able to enjoy the celebration fully, without concern for driving, especially if you plan to drink.

In Colombia, we don’t have the traditional four seasons so there is no need to match seasonal colors, feel free to wear any color you like. For this celebration, all shades of pink have been reserved and white is exclusively for the bride, so we kindly ask that you choose a different color palette for your attire.

Bogotá’s climate is cool throughout the year, especially in the evening, so we recommend bringing a coat or warm wrap to stay comfortable at night. We also recommend wearing comfortable shoes for the reception so you’ll be ready to dance the night away!
