Joshua and Samantha’s journey began in October 2020 with a simple swipe right. Samantha, originally from Chesterfield, Virginia, was pursuing her master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of Florida, while Joshua was living in Orange City, Florida working as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Despite their different hometowns, fate (and a dating app) brought them together.


Early on, they knew their connection was something special. Just six months into dating, they decided to celebrate in a big way—by jumping out of a plane! Skydiving together was a thrilling experience that set the tone for their adventurous relationship.


After 10 months, life presented them with a challenge—long distance. Samantha was accepted into a doctoral program in psychology (Psy.D.) at Radford University in Virginia, meaning 653 miles and a 9.5-hour drive would now stand between them. For the next three years, they navigated the ups and downs of a long-distance relationship, taking turns visiting each other and even meeting halfway just to spend a little extra time together.


Finally, in 2024, Samantha moved back to Florida, and the two reunited under the same roof in Orange City, FL. Then, in June of that year, on the shores of New Smyrna Beach—a place they both love—Joshua proposed, and Samantha said yes!


Now, they are excited to start this new chapter together and look forward to building their future in Florida. But first, they can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!
