The week before the engagement, Joshua’s brother, Juan, called Crystal and asked her to help with a proposal that he wanted to do for his girlfriend (whose name happens to be Cristal). He wanted Crystal to ask Cristal to get ready for a couple holiday photoshoot.
Crystal was on it in a second. She built a marketing visual that said “Couple Photoshoot Special”, grabbed some random couple photoshoot from Google, and placed a random name on the flyer to make it seem like a photographer was offering a photoshoot. She then asked Cristal if she wanted to do the photoshoot with Joshua and Juan. Cristal went along with the whole scheme and said “Let me see if Juan has school”, when she knew the truth of what was happening. They chatted about nails, dresses and left it at that.
In the background, Crystal was telling Joshua, “Hey we are going to be helping with Juan’s proposal, he wants me to go do my nails, makeup, and hair with her”. Joshua said “No, that’s too much, we will help but just with the setup”. There was a second where she thought this proposal was for her, but when he said this, she was like “Okay, he doesn’t want me to get ready, so there is no way that it’s for me”.
The day before the proposal, Joshua and Crystal went to Taste of Texas (if you know, you know). When they got in the car, Crystal started to check his jacket on the side closest to her. Joshua gave Crystal a dirty look and asked angrily “Why are you checking my pockets?!” Crystal said “To find the ring” and stopped checking since he was angry. Little did Crystal know that he did have the ring on the left side of his jacket!
The day of the proposal, Joshua and Crystal were working on the setup. They had some letters that spelled out “Marry Me” which they started working on. Crystal set up the letters and would hold the letters together while Joshua placed hot glue so the letters would stick together. They spent over 3 hours on those letters!
Since it took a long time, they were running late to the photoshoot (over half an hour late). Crystal was doing her makeup in the car (her eyeliner was nowhere near a straight line) while Joshua was freaking out about running late. Crystal kept telling Josh that it was okay and that there was nothing to worry about, when he was really nervous about proposing.
They finally made it to the destination which was the Lumen Room. Joshua told Crystal that he was going in the studio to check if Juan was in there already. Crystal stayed in the car trying to fix the eyeliner. Joshua came back out and asked Crystal to go in. Crystal asked about the letters and Joshua told her to leave them. She was super confused at that point.
They walked across the parking lot and into the building. Joshua said, “Ok, here is how it’s going to go, she’s going to walk in here and look over there.” He pointed at the window and went behind her. Crystal looked out the window and was very confused. In her mind, she asked herself, “Why is he showing me how it’s going to go? It’s not even my proposal.”
She then turned around and Joshua was one knee with a box and a ring. The box was beautiful (Oh and the ring was pretty too). She was very emotional and did not hear a word he said. All she remembers saying is “Yes”.
Joshua and Crystal are very excited to share this special moment with you. Hope you enjoyed our little story and that you have tons of FUN at our wedding.
With love,
