Our Wedding

When I think about Josh and I’s story, I can’t help but marvel in the goodness and sovereignty of the Lord. It’s so cool to look back now, and understand more of the Lord’s will for us, and His grace to knit our lives together! Josh and I first met in July of 2022. We were both at an interest meeting on the Nelson Atkins lawn for the church plant we would later both be apart of. I went to that meeting not really expecting to be apart of Trinity Church, and definitely not expecting to meet my future husband. How sweet and funny it is to look back now and see the many surprises that Lord would bring after that. At the meeting, Lydia (Josh’s sister) introduced me to her brother who had recently moved to KC, we talked very shortly and exchanged basic get to know ya information. But then I left, and life went on for the next couple of months and I honestly kinda forgot about Josh. I think I saw him a few times here and there that fall, between church and many mutual friends. I even remember one Sunday when I was serving at church, that I came into the service late and searched for a seat, only to find the only open seat was in the very back, and right next to Josh! Ha! We didn’t get to talk after the service sadly, as I had to leave to continue serving before the service got out. But our paths continued to cross in little ways up until January.	&nbsp;At that point I had decided to go with the church plant that my church was planting, and so I started going to some gatherings that they were having. There I saw Josh again, and was actually re-introduced to him by my brother- in-law, Lance. I remember walking into a conversation with Lance and Josh after one of the first gatherings I attended. Lance asked if we knew each other, we roughly recounted meeting earlier in the summer, and seeing each other around. The three of us talked, and then once Josh left, Lance turned to me and said “You’re welcome, I just introduced you to your future husband.” At the time, I laughed and rolled my eyes at the comment, knowing that was just Lance teasing me in the older brother way he does, but it’s funny to look back at now and know he was right! Over the next couple of months, I joined a new community group, with people who would also be leaving to launch the new church plant. Josh and I were put in the same group, and that’s where we truly began to get to know one another. Josh quickly became a friend, and I got to see more of his character and heart for the Lord through our community group, and seeing the ways he loved and served others. I saw his kindness, humility, and love for Christ. I quickly came to the realization that I was interested in Josh, and that he’s the type of man I could see myself dating, but I had no idea if he felt the same way and surely wasn’t going to make it obvious if I didn’t know how he felt as well.&nbsp;	So again time went on, up until May. One Sunday after church, Josh asked me If I was doing anything for lunch, and asked me if I’d like to go on a date with him right now. I was excited and surprised (and thought at first he was asking me to join a group of friends for lunch) and quickly stumbled over my words to say yes! I ended up having a great time, and spending half the day getting to know Josh more! After that, rest is really history! After we started dating, I quickly knew I wanted to marry Josh as I saw more of his character and heart for the Lord. I continued to see more clearly his selflessness, compassion, and generous heart. I love the deep friend I have in Josh, the joy and laughter he brings to the mundane, and how he helps me to cast my gaze upon Christ. I’m so excited to be his wife someday soon, and continue to have a front row seat at seeing the man the Lord is forming Him to be.&nbsp; I’m so thankful for the grace of the Lord to bring our lives together!

Hyacin's Story

Hyacin and I meet briefly in the summer of 2022. We didn’t see each other much until that winter when Hyacin joined the community group that I was in with our church. Then we started seeing each other every week at group. In that time of getting to know her more I saw her love for others and the Lord, particularly in how she served those around her and her church. She clearly sought the Lord every day and was seeking to be more Christ like. Our community group split that spring and we ended up in different groups. So we no longer saw each other every week. So I decided I better ask her to go on a date if I ever wanted to get to know her more. We went on our first date in May to Heirloom Bakery and the Contemporary Art museum. Although neither of us really enjoyed the art at the museum (weird modern art… blugh) but we did enjoy spending the time together! We laughed and had fun together but also had serious conversation about our lives. We continued to go on dates and I enjoyed seeing her creative and fun personality. I saw even more of her love for Christ and others. But I also saw how much I enjoyed spending time with her and how easy it was! We enjoyed walks in the park, eating Ice Cream, experimenting with film photography while just getting to know each other more. Early on it was pretty clear that I wanted to marry Hyacin. So after getting to know her more, I decided to ask her to marry me! I am excited to continue to build our lives and family together and to love her as Christ has loved us for the rest of my life!

We love the Nelson! It's one of our favorite KC spots. We were first introduced to each other on the lawn at a picnic, went on a walk there on our first date, and Josh proposed here too! It's free to the public and full of amazing art, check it out if you have time while here in KC!
