Not everyone can say they have been with their partner since 14 years old. We met in 7th grade when Josh moved to St. Clair. Our lockers were right by each other and we became friends quickly as our goofy personalities clashed so well. I always "picked" on him throughout the school years in a best friend type of way. Our friendship grew throughout the years. As 9th grade rolled around our friendship was blooming, and we considered each other best friends. We facetimed each other every night. We both thought it would be a terrible idea to "date" each other as it would ruin our friendship. It wasn't worth it to us to ruin that amazing friendship and bond we had. As our second semester of 9th grade was upon us, our classes got switched and we were not placed in the same class again. We were both very upset by that. At that moment we knew it was not easy for us to be separated. I asked him one night, "do you miss me?" And he wrote something back to me that I still have saved till this day. It says " No Emily, I don't miss you... its not like I've been trying to get you to change your schedule so we can have more classes together. I miss you so much its unreal. Every second I'm away from you, I'm wishing and dreaming of you being right there with me. I hate having only one class with the girl I love more than anything in the world. I hate everything about my day up until the moment I see you. Theres nothing I want more than to be able to see you more. Whenever your around me, I cant think straight. You are the only thing that makes me happy and the only person I want to be with every single day. So the question do you miss me is more than just a yes. it goes way beyond that." It was that moment I told Josh that I loved him, he told me he loves me too. But I told him I cant risk losing a best friend if things took a turn. He said " I will wait for you until you're ready". And he did wait... for a while... I couldn't stop thinking about him. I couldn't help but fall deeply in love with my best friend. As the time passed by, I told him out of no where, "I'm ready". The next week on Valentines day not only did he have the cutest little basket of goodies for me, but his best friend Eli ran out the doors and screamed " DID SHE SAY NO" with a giggle. He totally gave away Josh's next move. With a slight eye roll and a giant smile, Josh said "before I go to detention I have to ask you, will you go out with me". I gave him the biggest hug and said yes. Josh and I have grown up together ever since with our love growing stronger for each other everyday. We always look back at how we were just babies when we got together. We were together seven years before he dropped the big question "will you marry me" during a nightly walk on Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. It was the easiest yes of my life agreeing to marry the person who makes me laugh and smile more than anyone else in this world. As we prepare for our future, we laugh and reminisce on the younger versions of ourselves wishing they could see where they are at now, agreeing to a life with each other forever... Oh and yes we did get our classes switched so we could be together!
