We met on a dating app last spring, and had our first virtual date over Face Time. A few days later, Josh came to the Twin Cities for our first in person date. We walked for 8 miles talking and laughing around Colby Lake. From the beginning, God's hand was in it. Although Josh lived 700 miles away in Michigan, he was in Minnesota for a few months as GM was shut down for the pandemic and we were able to date and see each other more often. We both prayed over our relationship and quickly saw God working despite a pandemic, families states away, and living long distance. The rest is a beautiful love story continuing when Josh proposed 8 months later. We could not be more grateful to get to love one another.
On our first official date as a couple, we went to the Mississippi Headwaters in Itasca State Park. There, we sat on a bench and talked for a while, we shared things like our testimonies, and how we had seen God in our lives. Before we got up, Josh noticed a word carved into the bench, "Jesus". We smiled at each other and agreed, it was a God thing.
On January 2nd, 2021, Josh took Amanda back to that same bench. It was a beautiful snowy day. We walked out onto the frozen Lake Itasca. Josh made a large heart in the snow with his feet and had Amanda write J + A inside. When Amanda met him at the bottom of the heart, he got down on one knee (in the snow!) asking if she would spend the rest of her life with him and marry him.
Amanda was so excited, she cried and embraced Josh, he had to double check but she said YES! We heard cheering from the trail and the Wikstroms popped out from behind trees and celebrated with the Siciaks on Face Time. What a joyful day!
