God used Heartland Baptist Bible College as a way to guide Lydia and Joshua into a friendship. Neither of them realized that God was guiding the other together. They both wanted to follow God's calling if God had someone for them. Both of them encouraged each other to follow God's will and look for opportunities to serve.
Lydia volunteered to help Joshua with his devotions, reminding him to do it every day. As the days passed, she wondered what God was doing. They helped each other study for tests and focus on getting homework done. As they spent more time together it became obvious that God wanted them to move forward together in service to Him.
After much prayer and counsel, they determined they would start their relationship by meeting each other’s family and church. With the blessing of both pastors and parents, Josh asked for permission to court Lydia on the first week of July 2021. During this time they have had a long-distance relationship, which was difficult, but worth it. They got engaged in Mount Rainier National Park on July 15, 2022.
