Josiah and Sarah first meet during the spring semester of their freshman year. They had a Spanish class together and quickly became friends after working on a project with one another.

Josiah takes Sarah on their first date to Sparrows Coffee (now Scorpion Hearts Club) in Grand Rapids. They get their coffee to-go due to COVID, and walk around Calvin's campus together. Josiah asks Sarah to go on a second date later that day, which Sarah actually says no to; she would rather just be friends.

Josiah and Sarah stay friends, even after Sarah turned down the second date. They would still grab lunch together, and hang out with their other friends. The picture shown is Josiah's roommate, Calvin, who was in the same Spanish class as the two. After Josiah went to support Sarah at her band concert, the three of them got cookies downtown to celebrate. At the end of the semester, Josiah tells Sarah about his continually growing feelings toward her and asks to go on a second date when they come back in the fall, and Sarah agrees to do so.

Josiah works at Sky Ranch in Colorado over the summer as an activities specialist. Josiah stays in contact with Sarah, texting and occasionally FaceTiming - his cabin mates would ask about the girl he was talking to. Josiah would say she is just a friend.

Sarah spends her summer working in Grand Rapids as a student ambassador for Calvin's TRIO SSS program. She keeps up with Josiah's adventures in Colorado, and they learn more about each other's faith journey.

As soon as Josiah and Sarah are both back on campus in the fall, they pretty much become inseparable. They both become social work majors this semester and have their intro class together. They often get coffee before class, and hang out with Sarah's roommate Shawna in the evenings. They also frequently stay up late talking in the basement of Sarah's dorm, KHvR.

The day after Sarah's 19th birthday, Josiah and Sarah go to the fall formal together. They dance the night away and stay up talking until 4 a.m. As if they didn't hang out enough the night before, they go on their first beach trip together to Holland the next day.

Josiah takes Sarah on a date to get coffee and see Art Prize downtown. Later that day, while watching a T.V. show in Sarah's room, Josiah asks to make things official, meaning they are officially in a relationship as of October 3rd, 2021.

Some memorable moments from Josiah and Sarah's sophomore year include going to 5 concerts together, getting in a very scary car accident, and navigating Sarah's mental health journey, through which Josiah is very supportive.

Some memorable moments from the summer of 2022 include traveling to Kansas together to see Josiah's family, starting new internships, and going on lots of ice cream runs.

Some memorable moments from Josiah and Sarah's junior year include finding a home church together, discovering a new passion for cooking, and Josiah's break from school spring semester in order to better his mental health, as well as save for an engagement ring.

On May 5, 2023, Josiah proposes to Sarah at Holland State Park, where their friend Sheldon captures photos for them. Sarah was *almost* surprised, until her roommates had to convince her to put on a dress and do her makeup.
