SEPTEMBER 19, 2024 — The day we officially met!

Jo’s family had come out to Texas from Canada for Bryer and Lenexa’s wedding. We first saw each other at the wedding rehearsal — I was a bridesmaid, and he was the best man. I noticed him as soon as I walked in (because, well, how could I not?). Tall, handsome, Canadian. A triple threat.

He, on the other hand… said nothing. Just some side glances here and there. But then the next day he walked up and finally introduced himself. We chatted a little during the wedding and eventually, he asked me to dance. We started talking about things we enjoyed, and right away I noticed his love for God — which stood out to me more than anything.

He asked to hang out the next day, and we ended up going to dinner and a football game. That same night, Jo told my dad he wanted to get to know me with full intentions of marriage.

He headed back to Canada, and I waited what felt like an eternity for him to get my number from my dad. After CIA level interrogations, he did, and from that point on, we were always talking.

Two weeks later, Jo flew back to Texas, and he asked me to be his girlfriend. We spent four days together before he flew home again and we began our period of long distance.

We did three months of long-distance, which is basically a year in dating time. It was tough — lots of countdowns, FaceTimes, and texts. But then, finally, Christmas came and Jo joined my family on our trip to Belize and we got two whole weeks together!

After Belize, Jo returned to Canada one last time, packed up his stuff, and moved to Texas for good in January!

From that point on, life just kept getting better. We grew closer, and quickly became best friends.

APRIL 19, 2025 — The day we got engaged!

Yes, yes, we know — it hasn’t been that long. But when you know, you know. And we knew.

Jo’s family was in town visiting, and he took me to the Botanical Gardens. He had a photographer "secretly" booked and, while taking photos on a gazebo, he got down on one knee. And just like that — I said yes.

Looking back, it’s crazy how one wedding changed both our lives. What started with two people exchanging glances at Bryer and Lenexa's wedding has led to another one; ours!

I can’t wait to see where God takes us next.
