Our Wedding

It was 2014. Sophomore year had just begun, and he couldn’t help glancing back at the cute girl sitting behind him in math class. Their first date was tomorrow night, and it had taken him weeks to gather the courage to ask her out. She hadn’t expected it, but she liked the way he had a little laugh after talking to her.&nbsp; She would give it a go.&nbsp; The night was nothing special per se, some might even call it awkward. They sat together in the Chick-fil-A booth, making small talk over the smell of crispy waffle fries. As per usual, Taylor inhaled his meal within minutes and proceeded to ask Josie if she was finished eating. She had misheard – “let’s go” she mistakenly agreed, and prepared to stand up. As if it were lightning, his teenage hand shot across the table and picked up her half-eaten sandwich. A true gentleman move, she thought. Confused and still hungry, Josie decided she would let the awkward moment slide, after all he still had that adorable laugh right? But what she didn’t know was that that bite would be the beginning of a beautiful night – and later a lifetime - spent together.&nbsp; Fast forward a few weeks later and the two were officially a couple. Their relationship would last through high school and continue into their college years. Josie went to Creighton in Omaha while Taylor attended the University of Arkansas. Six hours of distance couldn’t slow down their relationship, and as the years progressed they began to spend more weekends traveling across state lines to share their lives with one another. After five years of long-distance dating, Josie and Taylor finally settled back in the city that brought them together. There in Kansas City, they would build a life together and call this place, and one another, home. Another year and the two would buy a house together, and four short months later, Taylor proposed. The rest, while still unwritten, is a story as familiar as the city where they first fell in love. Now, ten years later, Josie and Taylor are excited to share this next chapter with you and welcome you to celebrate their marriage. Thank you for being a part of their story.

We do not have a reserved room block for guests, but if you're looking for accommodations, we highly recommend staying in the Country Club Plaza area. Below are a few hotel options, all located within six minutes or less from our wedding venue! Please note that these hotels do not offer transportation to the venue or airport, but they do provide shuttle services around the Plaza. There’s plenty of free street parking near the venue, but we suggest using ride-share services so you can fully enjoy the open bar!

If you’re arriving early, we highly recommend exploring the Country Club Plaza! With over 90 stores and restaurants, including 45 local Kansas City favorites, it’s the perfect spot to grab a bite and enjoy some shopping. Our favorites include -

The Central Library is a historic downtown destination with an upstairs rooftop terrace, a downstairs film vault and a main-level coffee shop. This library has got an unsuspecting number of options to break up your day!

The Kansas City Public Library: Central Library

This craft studio and milkshake bar is a must try in Kansas City. Big plus - it's a 2 minute drive from our wedding venue! Here you can choose from a variety of self-guided projects, while sipping on one of their heavenly milkshakes.

Creative Culture

Boulevard is a Kansas City local brewery. This is a great spot for those who are 21+ to enjoy a tour, or play games and relax with family.

Take in history by walking through the country's official war memorial and museum dedicated to World War 1. There's a beautiful lawn out front, perfect for a picnic or walk.
