How They Met
The date was August 21st, 2016 and Josie and her girlfriends were hanging out in Lincoln Park along the shore of Lake Michigan during Chicago's famous Air and Water Show. Robert and his best dog, Pierce, along with a few friends were also in the park that day, tossing around a football and enjoying the fresh air of Diversey Harbor. Pierce, as he is prone to do when off leash, was pretty much doing whatever he wanted. He saw a group of women sitting along the water's edge, enjoying the sunshine and airplanes, and he ran right up to them, jumping directly into Josie's lap. It was almost as if he was saying, "Daddy pick this one!". Josie fell for Pierce's charm right away and Robert introduced himself, offered Pierce to Josie in exchange for her phone number, and as they say...the rest is history!
The Proposal
One year later almost exactly to the day, Robert and Josie were in New Mexico surrounded by the endless beauty of the White Sands National Park when Robert dropped to one knee and asked Josie to marry him. Josie's cousin and professional photographer, Adriana, was on hand to capture every moment and took some amazing shots! From there they drove to Santa Fe to celebrate with Robert's mom and step-father for a couple special days in the desert. New Mexico will always hold an enchanting place in their hearts.
Why Lake Geneva?
Aside from the obvious that Lake Geneva is a beautiful place to visit, particularly in the fall, Lake Geneva is also near and dear to both of them. Robert spent a fair amount of time as a child visiting the lake with his mom and sister, and continued going up for fun weekends with friends in his teenage years. Josie has been going to Lake Geneva for the last fifteen years over the summer, mostly to visit with various family members who have property in the area. When you consider both of their lake histories along with their mutual love for the outdoors and how beautiful Lake Geneva is in the fall, getting married there seemed like a foregone conclusion!
