From Heyward’s Perspective:
Growing up, it was my mom, my two sisters, and myself. Yes, wild and crazy! But I wouldn’t change it for the world. I heard a lot, but learned a lot more more: How to listen to a woman, how to respond to a woman, and most importantly how to treat a woman. My family showed me what to hope and look for in my future partner. To me, what was most important was loyalty and family! After many years of searching, I found myself at a Resident event/Pool party at my best friend, Garrett’s, apartment where little did I know, I would meet the woman of my dreams that night. There I was, being spun around by my best buds on someone else’s pool float, when I looked up and saw her glowing. The most beautiful, radiant woman I’ve ever laid eyes upon. In disbelief, I couldn’t think of anything else to do but to approach her and tell her that she was the most beautiful Woman I have ever seen. In pure shock and racing butterflies, I failed to ask for her number. Someone had other plans because when I walked away, her obnoxiously loud key chain alarm called me back to her! This is where I met my everything, my Josie. Long story short, I loved her from the moment I saw her, but the real ringer was her AMAZING family. I knew she was the one, but they sealed the deal, allowing me to see myself with them for many years to come! Thank you Josie Kate for making me the happiest man in the world! I Love You!
From Josie’s Perspective:
I have always been a lover of the ocean, dolphins, and all things coastal. As a child, I would always bring my dolphin statues and figurines with me on vacations to Florida to decorate my room with. I was blessed with the opportunity to move to Charleston, SC in May of 2021, finally making my way to the coast. Throughout this journey, I was eager for a new chapter, to meet new people, and further my personal growth. Little did I know, I would be met with my soulmate and the love of my life just three weeks later. It was Thursday, June 17th, and at my new apartment complex, Riverland Woods, the staff hosts a monthly party for the community. This was particularly a pool party, and my first resident event. I was soaking up the sun with a friend laying on the beach chairs, as I noticed this man out of the corner of my eye, laying sideways on a pineapple float, tilting his sunglasses at me. I instantly fell in love with his sense of humor. Heyes finally got the courage to approach me, because I definitely wasn’t going to make the first move, & he said “I just had to let you know, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.” I, instantly SWOONING over this man, responded with “well that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me.” One thing led to another, phone numbers were exchanged, but I had to play it cool. I couldn’t show him immediately that I was absolutely infatuated with his charm, kindness, and last but not least, his extremely good looks. We were both celebrating our nephews’ that weekend, myself in Rock Hill, SC for my sister’s baby shower, and Heyes in Charleston, SC for Asa’s 1st birthday party. Over the weekend, we texted, and couldn’t wait any longer to see each other again. We arranged a “group date” with friends to meet up at Revelry Brewery in Charleston, SC, where not only did Heyes meet Theo for the first time, but we both realized that we share the same birthday, June 6th! So not only was I falling for this man, but the stars just seemed to align for us. When I needed him, he was there, and when he needed me, I was always eager to jump in and support him. Within that next month, I met Heyes’s wonderful family, his sweet pup, Aura, and I felt such a peace that is difficulty to put into words. He was home for me. Our many adventures have solidified our love for each other, from the mountaintops of Pisgah National Forest, to the beaches in Kauai, Hawaii, and snorkeling the reefs of the Sea of Abaco in Hope Town, Bahamas; Hauling hay at my family’s farm in Knoxville, TN, and countless boat cruises on Edisto Island. Most of the time, when i’m thinking something, Heyes is saying it, or vice versa. It is extremely clear to me that this relationship was a door that the Lord opened for me as I ventured on my journey to begin my new chapter. Here we are, exactly two years later, engaged to be married, enjoying every day of life with our sweet fur babies, Theo & Aura, and moving to Beaufort, SC in our first home! Heyward is my home, and my dream come true. I am extremely blessed and hopeful for our future together!
