We met through&nbsp;mutual friends many years ago when we were teenagers & when it was a&nbsp;really tricky time in my life-but we became true friends in May of 2009&nbsp;when we exchanged contacts online through MSN messenger & Myspace.&nbsp;Jasper took me on my first hike to Hanakāpī‘ai&nbsp;beach with a group of friends that summer&nbsp;& I&nbsp;never saw him ever again&nbsp;.&nbsp; The time apart gave us a chance to learn more about life,&nbsp;have our own experiences&nbsp;&&nbsp;take the time to really grow up before we could come back together. It gave us the chance to see&nbsp;that it wasn't&nbsp;young love it was true love.&nbsp;Long distance relationships are not for everyone. You have to work twice as hard, be a&nbsp;lot more patient with each other&nbsp;& learn to trust more. I honestly never thought I'd be in one. To me they're a lot more&nbsp;meaningful-If you can trust someone hundreds of miles away,&nbsp;then&nbsp;that's beautiful.You may not get&nbsp;to hug them,&nbsp;kiss them,&nbsp;or wake up next&nbsp;to them every morning,&nbsp;but you do get&nbsp;to talk to them; we talked & Face-time everyday & got to know each other even more. Everyday that passed&nbsp;by our love for each other grew stronger as if he was the missing piece we’ve been trying to find. Distance didn't stop us from what was meant to be, we were each others 1st & last thoughts everyday & night.We learned to appreciate the time we were able to spend&nbsp;together & distance taught us the true definition of Patience. It reminded us that every moment together was special &&nbsp;every second together should be cherished because it&nbsp;would be&nbsp;worth it at the end.

For those of you traveling to Kauai, you'll want to fly into the Lihue Airport on Kauai (Airport code LIH)

Kauai is a beautiful place and a marriage here is an ideal way for a couple to start life together. You may be a visitor to the Islands, drawn to our year-round warm and sunny weather, or you may be a resident wishing to celebrate a most cherished moment in a place that you call home.&nbsp; For any person to lawfully marry in the State of Hawaii, a license for that purpose must be obtained from an authorized agent. Once the license has been issued, there is no waiting period before the marriage can take place. No blood tests are needed, and no witnesses are required.A marriage license and marriage certificate are different documents. The marriage license permits a marriage to take place. The marriage certificate indicates that a legal marriage has been performed.

We have&nbsp;personally used Turo & comes highly recommended. If Melvin Valdez has&nbsp;vehicles &nbsp;available we recommend booking it with him.

Turo Car Rental 

A car is highly recommended&nbsp;since most attractions are miles apart.&nbsp; That is unless you&nbsp;have family or friends&nbsp;and just plan on having them drive you&nbsp;the entire time.&nbsp; If not rent and&nbsp;Get a 4x4 if you plan on hiking on the trails that say you need a 4x4; otherwise skip it.&nbsp; The major car companies are on Kauai are Enterprise & Budget. But sometimes you can get a 4x4&nbsp;for the same price as a standard size car.&nbsp; There are a lot of package deals for car + hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, etc. The car rental pick-ups are at&nbsp;&nbsp;Lihue&nbsp;airport and at some major hotels.&nbsp;Also even if you aren't staying a week the week rates are often better than the daily rates. If not we have locals on the island that rent out their vehicles. Joy personally used Turo for a month when she was in the process of moving to WA.The Turo app can be downloaded on any smart phone device or accessed online.

There is a taxi company that can be called if rides are needed after the festivities ; however THEY MUST BE CALLED BY 11PM....after that, you're on your own! Sorry, it's Kauai :)&nbsp;

Hanakāpī‘ai&nbsp;Falls Trail is one of the most popular hikes on Kauai. One of the 1st hikes Jasper & Joy did back in 2009.&nbsp;It leads you to the first part of the Kalalau towards Hanakāpī‘ai&nbsp;Beach before heading inwards along the Hanakāpī‘ai&nbsp;Stream towards the booming 300ft+ Hanakāpī‘ai&nbsp;Waterfall in the depths of the jungle. The Hanakāpī‘ai&nbsp;Falls Trail is 4 miles in and 4 miles out. However, many hikers stop at the beach and turn back, opting to hike only to the beach and not the falls. This makes the journey only 2 miles in and 2 miles out.

On Joy’s last day on Kauai a group of close friends went on a hike before she hopped on a plane to Washington. This strenuous 4-mile round-trip hike in Kokee takes you along an irrigation ditch, past verdant forests and meadows, and gives good overlooks of two waterfalls. This is where Jasper proposed to Joy.

The love for Kauai can also be seen by boat .The&nbsp;Napali Coast&nbsp;is the best way to see Kauai.There are many ways to explore the Napali Coast, but the safest access and best views are found by sea or by air. Boat tours depart from Port Allen on the West Side, and during the summer months, guided kayaking trips bring you up-close to soaring cathedral cliffs. When conditions are right, raft tours are available to&nbsp;guide you to hidden sea caves and remote beaches.&nbsp;
