Things to Do

Welcome to Canmore

Website

Policeman Creek Trail

610-M 8 St, Canmore, AB T1W 2B1, Canada

- Easy, 4km Length & 84m Elevation gain

- 1–1.5hr Estimated time

- This scenic boardwalk trail starts in downtown Canmore and follows Policemen's Creek through forests and alongside ponds. It connects to more than 70 km of walking trails so you can make a longer route if you prefer. The path is flat and well-maintained and it is great for birding. It does tend to get a bit crowded, but you get spectacular views of the Three Sisters and Mount Rundle.

- Accessibility: There are several paved parking areas on the south end of the trail off of Streamside Lane but it is unclear if there are any designated accessible parking spaces or striped access aisles there. There is a short stair set where the boardwalk reaches Main (8th) Street, so the entire trail length is not suitable for wheelchairs. The trail surface is gravel or smooth wooden boardwalk (with edge barriers) and it is typically at least 1 meter wide.

- The estimated grade is mostly gentle (all 6% or less). There are some sections of stairs on the boardwalk that may be impassable but it unclear if they are on the main trail. All-terrain strollers or motorized wheelchairs may be needed for the unpaved sections. There are benches along the way for resting in the gravel sections.

Bow River Trail Canmore

Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park

Situated at the western edge of downtown Canmore, the Bow River Loop Trail is easily accessible and convenient for locals and visitors.

- There are numerous parking options. You can park in one of the many downtown parking lots, a 5-minute walk from the trail.

- If you have accessibility issues, two of the best parking areas are on River Road, behind Riverside Park or in the small parking lot at the west end of Bow River Bridge.

- Easy, 6km Length & 129m Elevation gain

- 1.5–2hr Estimated time

- This multi-use trail follows alongside the Bow River in Canmore. The trail starts from the Rundle parking lot just by the Bow River Bridge but can be started from anywhere along the trail. This trail is a mix of paved trails and single track while being predominantly flat. - Gorgeous open views of the Bow River and the mountains are present throughout the journey. The parking lot by the trailhead is pretty small, so if you can it is best to arrive early.

Three Sisters Disc Golf Course

Riva Heights, Canmore, AB T1W 3L3, Canada

- Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf is a flying disc sport in which players throw a disc at a target, using rules similar to golf. The sport is usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes, each consisting of a teeing area and a target. Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee pad or tee area toward the target (often a basket equipped with chains to catch the disc) and throwing again from where the previous throw came to rest, until the disc comes to rest in the target. The discs used are made with varying characteristics that allow for different flight patterns, and are chosen by the player before each shot depending on the intended flight path. Different throwing styles can also affect the flight of the discs.

- Free to play
