You ever heard of Bumble? Well, if you haven’t, it’s the dating site where David and Joyce successfully swiped right on each other in early 2019. They knew they had friends in common and continued to start developing a friendship over the next couple of months. Matchmaker’s Erin and Kasey, the bride’s college roommate and best friend and the grooms sister, had other plans.

On August 3rd, 2019, David showed up to Bar Anticipation in Belmar, NJ, expecting to just hang out with his cousins. Joyce showed up to that same bar, expecting a throwback to college with a night out. The two started talking, held hands, and the rest is history. Joyce couldn’t wait to see him again. In fact, she asked him out on their very first date to King Kone on August 5th, 2019.

Joyce and David officially started dating on August 29th, 2019.

After four years, including a worldwide pandemic and multiple achievements, David decided to propose to Joyce doing one of their favorite activities, hiking. It had been raining for weeks, and with our hectic schedules, David was trying to find the perfect weekend. He had the ring made back in March, and finally had it. He asked Joyce’s parents, who were elated with the news, and decided to propose on October 6th, 2023.

Joyce on the other hand, as excited as she was to get engaged and start their forever, was not as excited to go on this hike. As was said, it had been raining for weeks, and was forecasted to continue raining later in the evening. David was able to entice Joyce by offering to grab their favorite pizza on the way home.

The two and Sabre, their puppy dog, set forth on their hike to the Dover Stone Church, where they saw a beautiful cave and raging waterfall. They were unable to go into the cave, so instead David decided to take pictures outside of the cave, and asked Joyce to set up the camera. While doing so, David got down on one knee, and when Joyce turned around, David asked the easiest question Joyce has ever had to answer to start their forever….

“Will you marry me?”
