Aloha! I'm Ken, and I’d like to take this chance to share our love story. I’ll admit—I'm the better storyteller between the two of us, so allow me to tell it from my point of view. Quiet BeginningsChelsea and I were from the same stake and were classmates in institute classes, though we never really spoke. She was, without a doubt, the most beautiful young lady I had ever met. Later, I moved to another city for work, but somehow, our paths continued to cross—especially at YSA conferences, where, to my dismay, she would completely ignore me. An Unexpected MatchIn June 2019, I received a notification on my online dating app—I had matched with Chelsea. We quickly moved our conversation to facebook, where we connected over our shared love for missionary work. I was a returned missionary, and she was preparing to serve her mission. A few weeks later, I went to visit her, and not long after, we officially started dating. A Message in CodeFast forward to September—she said yes to becoming my girlfriend through a Morse code note that spelled out “I love you.” That’s just how clever she is—always keeping me on my toes and making it impossible not to fall even harder for her. Growing TogetherI moved back to town, and we continued dating while supporting each other in our personal goals. In December, we traveled to the Philippines Cebu Temple, where Chelsea received her endowment. She thought she’d be going in alone—but I surprised her inside. The joy on her face was unforgettable. I love making her happy—it’s one of my favorite things to do. The Longest Wait, the Sweetest ReturnChelsea served her mission from December 2021 to June 2023—and those were the longest nights of my life. I missed her every single day, sometimes to the point of tears. What broke my heart even more was when she ended things just weeks before coming home. I was devastated… but deep down, I was sure I’d win her back—and I did. When she returned, she said yes to me all over again. We loved each other even more the second time around—stronger, deeper, and more certain than ever. Walking Forward in FaithWe continued on with our plans. Though we both had full-time jobs, we shared a desire to earn our degrees, so we enrolled in PathwayConnect and applied to BYU–Hawaii. Fast forward to today—we're gratefully moving forward with our dreams: getting married in the temple, starting our own family, building our careers, continuing our education, and most importantly, striving each day to follow Jesus Christ together.
