Introducing the lineup of legends who have been by our side through thick and thin! They've seen it all, from every ill-advised haircuts and questionable decisions to our moments of pure brilliance. They are the keepers of all our most embarrassing tales! So if you're looking for good stories or just need a laugh, they're your go-to people. Be prepared for some creative interpretation of the truth. Just sayin’! But most importantly, they’ve stuck with us because they love us. We love them and you will, too!

Larry ElwellJohn and Larry met when John was in 8th grade and Larry was in 7th -- a friendship that's stood the test of time. Since then, they've accelerated through life, leaving a trail of broken speed limits and a fierce rivalry on the ping pong and pool tables. Larry is true-blue -- the guy with a heart of gold and the one you'd call at midnight for a ride home or to get out of jail. After many rounds of double-or-nothing, Larry is the official winner of bumper pool. So, if you're feeling brave, ask Larry to play a game of pool. Larry and his wife, Cat, live in Mattawan, Michigan.

Marie D'Urso (aka Ree-Ree)Marie is Judi's big sister. Marie, the undisputed reigning queen of family cohesion, resides in South Plainfield, NJ with her wonderful family and holds the coveted title of "world's best sister" (just ask Judi). She is the kindest, most loving, and thoughtful person you'll ever encounter—willing to perform the heroic act of helping Judi transport the BEST New Jersey pizza in Ziploc bags to Cali or The Mitten, no less! Marie is the glue that keeps the entire family together. Feel free to ask her all about her five grandsons and the little granddaughter who is currently en route to join this lovely clan!

Troy RozemaJohn met Troy after a softball game and celebration at ChiChi's in the glorious 80s. Troy is a universally loved guy, a true legend who knew how to rock his signature mullet like it was an art form. Seriously, everyone loves Troy but he is a discerning man. While he may be a man of few words, he always makes time to listen. And if he calls you a friend, consider yourself luckier than a winning Powerball ticket. Ask Troy about the BEST beer he's EVER had. Troy and his wife, Donna, live in Paw Paw, Michigan.

Nili HudsonJudi first crossed paths with Nili back in 2013, likely in a shared state of existential contemplation, as they were both pursuing their Master's degrees in Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica. Since then, Nili has become a soul-sister "through and through" to Judi, the type who would (and did) rearrange heaven and earth to be at our wedding. For many years, Nili has been Judi's rock and unofficial "surf coach" – always ready with a reminder to simply "paddle out and ride the waves" of the entrepreneurial rollercoaster. Ask Nili about her extensive experiences with underwater photography and SCUBA diving all over the world.

Collin CrowelJohn's favorite nephew, Collin, has been gracing his uncle with his presence since the day he was born! This wicked smart, funny and globe-trotting young man keeps us updated on his amazing life, career, and adventures through frequent calls and visits. While we appreciate his dedication to his career (and maybe a few too many hours at the laptop), we've noticed he's got a pretty compelling reason to take a break. Ask him about what's new in his life!

Meline' Sarkissian (aka Mel)Judi met Meline' in Fiji in 2008 when they were attending a meditation retreat. Seeking more navel-gazing and the love of international travel, they double-downed on divine destiny for another retreat -- this time in India and a tuk-tuk ride that almost left them stranded in the middle of nowhere! Meline is like a sister and was a major source of inspiration for Judi's West Coast glow-up—yoga teacher training, temporary vegetarianism, the whole LA shebang! With that said, you can take Judi out of NJ but you can't deny her the BEST pepperoni pizza from NJ. Ask Meline' about living a soul-centered life and her love of education.

Big John WiedmanJohn met Big John at a country bar called Lucille's in Michigan. He tells the best stories and some of them are mostly true. These men were thick as thieves in Michigan for years and years. But alas, one day true love and Nashville called Big John far away. Fear not, his daily calls keep us in the loop about all his work, travels, and family adventures. Big John is like a very tall, little brother. Now, you can ask him about anything your heart desires—except, of course, for dirt about Wicks.

Judi and Lori share a beautiful bond, instantly connecting as kindred spirits during their time at USM and even more with laughs and heartfelt conversations over lunch. As Judi's advisor at USM, Lori offered invaluable guidance, sharing a depth of knowledge, insights, and wisdom that supported Judi's spiritual journey. Her presence is a gift -- radiating kindness, grace, and a loving awareness that touches everyone she meets. It brings us immense joy to have this dear friend officiate our marriage in September. Lori's path of service led her to become an ordained minister so she could preside over her brother's wedding. She is also the gifted, award-winning author of Letting the Upside In. When you meet her, ask her to share the meaning behind her heartfelt words: “To see another as God intended, we must come from a place of loving inside ourselves, as God intended.”

Wellers History

Located on the banks of the Saline River, Wellers is cradled in an era that we will never see again. On the National Historic Register, this timeless property provides us a truly memorable location for our wedding. Imagine the excitement when Henry Ford came to the small rural village of Saline to restore the dilapidated Schuyler flour mill in 1935. People thought he had totally lost his mind!! But, like all entrepreneurs, Ford had his own unique vision: to merge urban factories with rural farming through a little-known and unused crop, the soybean. To implement his wild idea, he paid over 700 farmers in the Saline area to grow soybeans. The farmers then trucked their crops here to be refined into soybean oil for the production of plastics and paints for auto manufacturing. This simple idea forever changed the face of industry and farming. In fact, soybeans are once again on the front burner as a possible source and solution for our energy problems. Ford was drawn here because of its location on a river. He produced electricity by diverting the river to create a dam-millpond, and installed a waterwheel. Engineers still marvel at the beauty of Ford's futuristic dream and he is known throughout the industrial world for his innovative use of organic products in industry. Towns grew as service areas to agricultural hinterlands and were usually located at the junction of the travel route or along a river where water power was plentiful for operating the saw and grist mills needed by the settlers. Several mills remain at these historic junctions along the route including the Atlas Mill in Clinton and the Pears Mill in Buchanan. The most prominent is the Schuyler Mill built in 1843 on the fall of the Saline River, in the then Village of Barnegat (now known as Saline). In a later period of the road's history, Henry Ford purchased the mill in 1935. Along with a dam to provide water power and several new buildings, Ford made major renovations to the mill. The mill was the centerpiece for his village industry located in Saline. The buildings and structures along both sides of the highway are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. When Carl &amp; Iris Weller purchased this property in 1966, the buildings &amp; property were in total disrepair. But the Ford remnants unearthed in the buildings, the 10-acre setting and the underlying natural beauty of the buildings, sparked a flame that still burns bright in the today. With their 56 years of efforts resurrected this mesmerizing page in history. Their story is a testament to American hard work and ingenuity.

If in need -- just grab the arm of your date, a groomsman, or any gentleman to ensure you #slaytheday and not your ankle… especially if you're wearing stilettos.

Located in Saline, 7.6 miles from Yost Ice Arena, Hampton Inn Saline provides air-conditioned rooms and a terrace. Featuring an ATM, this property also provides guests with a grill. University of Michigan is 8.6 miles away and Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is 9.2 miles from the hotel. At the hotel, each room includes a desk.
