If you’re traveling from afar and looking for a place to stay in Portland, we’re recommending northwest since it’s close to the reception venue and our pad. It’s also incredibly walkable — maximizing your things-to-do and minimizing your uber bill. (See our “Things To Do” tab if you need a little input to fill your itinerary beyond Saturday evening).
If you’re coming from out-of-state (say San Diego, Denver, Los Angeles, etc.), you might have other friends en route, too: Let us know if you want help finding a group AirBNB — we’re all hands on deck.
You’re in luck: The recently-remodeled Portland International Airport (PDX) is dreamy, woodsy, and everything you might imagine of a PNW airport. If you fly into PDX, you can also take the MAX Light Rail system into the city for a small fee of $2.80 (views included). If you’re staying in NW Portland, you’ll take the MAX to the Providence Park stop, and from there, it’s a little walk up 21st or 23rd into the Nob Hill area.
If you’re looking for a hotel in Murfreesboro, the group of hotels closest to the reception would be near the conference center and Avenue Shoppes on Medical Center Parkway. The Embassy Suites there is about a 12 minute drive from the reception! The Avenue has tons of food and (of course) shopping close by that you could probably walk to if you’re feeling ambitious.
For this reception, you’ll likely need a car no matter where you stay or travel from (unless you’re a Tour-de-France-level cyclist).
We’ll be flying into the (also semi-recently remodeled) Nashville International Airport (BNA) since it’s about a 30-40 minute drive to Murfreesboro. Even though they’ve shamelessly ripped up the iconic BNA Carpet, you can still find plenty of down-home country paraphernalia.
