March 2018 - Julia and her three single friends Hannah, Colin, and Travis are determined to bring back tradition and start giving their phone numbers out like in the good old days. They head to the Triple Nickel Pub in Portland where Steele and his friends are tearing up the dance floor. Julia is immediately drawn to Steele's sick dance moves and dinosaur pizza t-shirt. Hannah gives Julia's number to Steele and he texts her from the bar. A few days later, they go on their first date.

2018 - Steele heads to Lee Vining, California for the summer season working to research and conserve the endangered sage grouse.
Julia finishes her second year of medical school.
Together they go on trips to the cabin, a wedding, and hang out with many dogs in between.

2019 - Beach trips, Palm Springs, more cabin, more dogs.

2020 - Pandemic times. Living together with friends Nick and Colin and Julia’s brother Tony. Steele goes back for more sage grouse work and then a seasonal UPS stint. Julia’s parents adopt a golden retriever puppy named Reuben. Deep fried turkey, more cabin times, fancy dinner with Alex and Jared. More dogs.

2021 - Steele heads to Norway for a two year Master’s program at the Inland Norway University in Evenstad. Julia graduates medical school and heads to Ohio for Anesthesia residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center. They adopt a perfect orange cat named Rufio.

2022 - Second year of residency, hanging out with Rufio, Toledo Mud Hens games.

2023 - Julia visits Norway in January where Steele proposes! In June Steele and Julia move from their downtown apartment into a house where Rufio has many more windows to look out. Third year of Anesthesia residency. Silas and Rachel’s wedding and Alex and Jared’s wedding 💕

2024 - Julia & Steele get married at the Toledo courthouse on 2/22/24!! They adopt a second perfect orange cat named Ricky. They also become Toledo zoo members. Family & friends visit Toledo for the eclipse on 4/8/24. Steele finishes his double masters program in Applied Ecology (Norway) and Natural Resource Management (Switzerland). Julia's fourth and final year of Anesthesia residency.
