Our Wedding

Our Story

In 2018, a Pennsylvania man named Cole Robert Alexander decided to pack up his life and move out west to Montana to attend guiding and packing school. After he graduated the course, he took a hunting guide job for Rich's Montana Guest Ranch and Outfitters. Coincidentally, a Montana girl named Julia Anna Boland was just starting her seventh season at the Rich Ranch as a backcountry cook. The summer progressed and with every new trip that Cole and Julia took into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, they became better friends and upon the arrival of the fall hunting season, they were in love. Years passed and they went on to live and work in a few different small Montana towns but they were still hunting and fishing together, riding horses and playing cribbage. Four years after first meeting, Cole and Julia moved back to the Missoula area and were once again riding into Leota Park, the Rich Ranch’s hunting camp site in the “Bob”. On September 12, 2022, while in Leota Park, the place that Julia had known and loved since she was a child, the place where Cole successfully guided his first hunt, the place where they fell in love, Cole asked Julia to marry him.

Cole's sister lives in Albuquerque, NM. She's head grower for a medical marijuana garden and lives with her roommate, Lenny.

Julia's eldest sister Cait and her husband Samir live in Great Falls, MT where they are partners in their own law firm and parents to their four young children: Eamon, Ciaran, Tristan and Amal.

Cody is Cole's eldest sibling. He and his wife, Tierney live in Pennsdale, PA with their two kids Emery and Waylon. Cody runs equipment for the Wayne Township Landfill.

Marias is Julia's longest and bestest friend: they met in pre-Kindergarten. Marias is a Researcher for a Land Surveying company in Missoula and she's Julia's Thwan.

Cole's friend Evan lives and works in Newfield, NJ. He's a produce farmer and is Vice President of Big Bird's Beets.

Tatum lives with a sweet, elderly lady named Penny and is loved by her fella, Joe. Julia and Tatum became close while working together on the ranch;  indoors and outdoors, on scaffolding and off.

Cole's long time friend Brett lives in Cascade, PA. He's a welder for a construction company there. He's engaged to a cool chick named Rachael who will be doing Julia’s hair for the wedding.

Tierney is married to Cole's brother Cody and she's a hairstylist in Montoursville. Their daughter Emery is a flower girl and their son Waylon celebrates his first birthday the day after we get married!

Cole's friend Daulton lives in Cascade, PA where he started his own well drilling company. He has a young son named Andy.

She and her boyfriend Jared live in Albuquerque with their Red Ryder. Jen is a nurse and has made many trips through the Wilderness, the most peculiar of which are those she’s experienced with Julia and Annie.

The three sons of Julia's sister Caitie and her husband Samir will be ring bearers but their younger sister Amal, who was born April 9, will be watching her brothers from her papa's arms.

Julia's middle sister, Hannah and her husband Will live in Etchingham, England with their two children Elizabeth and Patrick. Hannah is a journalist and playwright and Will is a writer and editor at the Evening Standard.

Wedding Party

We will be hosting our April 7 wedding ceremony and reception at: The Barn on Mullan8500 Mullan Road, Missoula MT 59808 Formal attire.Ladies, this really is just an excuse for you to dress to the nines if you so choose. There will be women wearing formal gowns and women wearing pants; wear whatever makes you feel fancy. Gents, there will be many who wear suits and we know of several cowboys who will wear nice jeans and a button-up shirt. Same goes to you, wear whatever makes you look fancy. We are hoping to have our ceremony outdoors but this is weather dependent. Either way, please come prepared for any weather. The reception will be indoors with access to the outdoor patio which will have propane heaters and a fire pit. Ladies, please come prepared to walk in gravel driveways and grass (or snow for that matter). Guests are expected to arrive between 3 and 3:30pmThe ceremony will begin at 3:30pmCocktail hour and appetizers to follow the ceremonyDinner will be served at 5pmDancing starts at 7pm and goes 'til closing time!A shuttle bus will arrive at the Barn at 10:45pm and drop the drop off location is at the Holiday Inn Downtown. Whether you wish to hitch a ride to the hotel and call it a night or join the late night crowd at the after party downtown, you're welcome to take the bus. There will be an open bar for the first few hours of the evening but after that it will be a cash-only bar. It is against venue policy for any outside alcohol to be brought on premises so please do not BYOB. There will be plenty available :) Ladies and gents, please come prepared to dance ! Our wedding band is a local country and rock group named 406. They're an amazing band that Julia has been dancing to for years! They take requests. The Barn is in the Missoula city limits so it's an easy drive to any and all hotels/airbnbs/VRBOs. Ubers, Lyfts and taxis are plentiful in town but if you choose to drive your own vehicle to the wedding venue know that there is plenty of space in the barn parking lot which is secured by a locked gate every evening. Your vehicle will be safe and welcome to remain overnight if you don't want to drive after the reception.

Montana Wedding Information 

For those of you flying in, the only convenient airport is theMissoula Montana Airport (MSO). Rental vehicles are available through any of the airport rent-a-car businesses and Missoula Hyundai dealership rents vehicles as well. But not to worry! Ubers and Lyfts are plentiful in Missoula if you prefer. We've reserved block rooms at two different hotels. Links and information are listed below.
