Julia and Colin met in the Fall of 2019 at the University of Tulsa. They had both been actively attending Presbyterian Leaders and Scholars lunches during the Fall, but they had not spoken until a fraternity philanthropy dinner. Julia would naively ask Colin if he had thought about joining Presbyterian Leaders and Scholars since he attended each week. Julia did not realize that he was already apart of the program. Colin chuckled at her question. Colin met Lydia at the same time and will tell anyone that he could tell the twins apart immediately.

In November of 2019, Julia and Colin would speak again at a Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha function called “KA Newlyweds”. At this event, Julia and Colin would speak at length. That night, Julia knew that Colin would be in her life for a long time. She did not know what that would look like, but she was sure of it. A few months later, Julia planned to ask Colin to her sorority formal because she enjoyed his company so much. Days after she asked him, the pandemic would send them each to their respective homes.

They would meet again during a group trip to Tulsa in July of 2020. Julia had strong feelings for Colin and felt it was necessary to be honest with him due to the nature of their friendship. Although she was a very close friend to him, Colin did not think of her that way. But that would eventually change…

In the Fall of 2020 (October 3rd to be exact), Colin would come to realize his own feelings for Julia. However, he decided to wait for a month to reflect on his feelings before he asked her on a date. Julia was completely unaware.

On the night of Halloween (October 31st), Colin would admit his feelings to someone other than himself. Robert Kullberg was the first person to know. That same night, Julia would also admit to Robert that she was still infatuated by Colin.

November 17th, 2020, Colin would claim that he had not had coffee for weeks and would ask Julia to join him at 918 Coffee. There he would confess his own admiration and fondness for Julia to her own disbelief. At 918 Coffee, the two would make plans to go to India Palace (a shared love of food) on November 19th, 2020. Two weeks later, Colin would ask Julia to be his girlfriend after cooking her dinner, chicken piccata in his apartment.

From there, they began their relationship. Although they both considered the other a close friend before, they got to know each other even more deeply and became closer. They both grew even more fond of each other due to their shared values, dreams, and faith. One of their favorite memories was traveling to Scotland with the group from Presbyterian Leaders and Scholars. During the trip, they both had the opportunity to learn more about the Scottish Reformation, to explore a new culture, to grow deeper in their relationships with the other members of the trip, and to make memories that they will be able to cherish throughout their relationship.

Even after years of dating, Julia and Colin are still crazy about one another. They enjoy playing tennis, cooking, baking, playing pickle ball, traveling, eating pastries, watching movies, and spending time with Julia’s tuxedo cat Louis. Julia is still working in IT Project Management at ONE Gas and singing in First Presbyterian’s choir. Colin has begun his first year in medical school at Oklahoma State University.

Their friendship, respect, admiration, and faith will be the foundation for their marriage with Christ at the center.
