Julia & Nate met in the spring of 2015. After weeks of being nudged by mutual friend Austin they agreed to meet for a coffee date after school. Both left wondering what Austin was thinking drawing them together. Austin assured them both he really thought they were meant for one another. Many mutual friends constantly said, "you two are so much alike!" Since then, Nate and Julia spent a lot of time texting back and forth, spending a lot of time together.
On the 4th of July, while both on vacation with their families up north, Nate and Julia realized they were watching the same firework show in Grayling, MI from different seats. Then followed a summer of falling in love, mostly filled with driving back roads in "Ernie", Nate's 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet.
By Fall of 2015, Nate had asked Julia to high school Homecoming and the two spent the remainder of high school hand-in-hand.
Following high school, Nate entered the world of tree trimming and Julia was knee-deep in building her photography business.
Aside from work, the two spent many weekends camping and hiking. One of their favorite things to do was spend a day canoeing the AuSable River. In 2020, they purchased their beloved 1994 pop-up camper and towed it around with Nate's favorite 93' Ford Ranger, which made the "social distancing" era pretty easy for them.
Julia and Nate's favorite tradition is taking a quick weekend trip every year for their anniversary. Nate picks a random dot on the map, and they spend the weekend getting to know a new, small town in Michigan.
With a friend group as tight as these two have, they couldn't narrow down a favorite trip or memory if they had to. The group has done it all. Annual Halloween party at Nate and Julia's, backpacking up north, a trip to the U.P, weekends at Cedar Point, late nights of DnD, and countless trips to Grayling. They have been living in their own "Good ole days" and are incredibly thankful for that.
From day one, Nate and Julia were in sync, both wanting to pursue a career in the trades, live in the sticks, and grow a family. With zero plans of going off to college, the two set out with big dreams to pursue the life they dreamt of. In 2020, Nate bought his first house, which Julia would soon make a home. Eventually the family grew, adding two cats, Theo and Piper, and a dog, Asoka.
In April of 2024, Nate proposed on the coast of Lake Michigan on an annual backpacking trip with friends.
Following the proposal, their closest family and friends threw them a surprise engagement party. The party ended with celebrating under the northern lights, making it something they will never forget.
The best is yet to come.....
