From the Beginning...

As little kindergartners on the playground, Noah and Julia met at Westminster and continued through school together for 13 years. Even though they were in classes together, took swim lessons together, danced together at Spring Formals, and were both a part of youth group at First Pres, they were always just friends until freshman year of high school. They grew closer until Julia asked Noah to the Sadie Hawkins dance and an awkward Valentine's Day led to the "friend-zone" which then led to a summer apart. It wasn't until the night before their sophomore year that they reunited and Julia realized that this Noah guy was actually really great. At the first away football game of the year, as the cheerleaders lined up for the tunnel and the football players huddled at the end, Noah ran over to Julia to hand her a note asking her to the Homecoming dance. She found him at the end of the game and of course accepted, and they texted the whole way home between the football bus and the cheerleader van. As their parents weren't fond of the idea of dating before they were 16, Noah asked Julia to be his girlfriend on the night of her 16th birthday, and the rest was history. They then shared countless memories throughout the rest of high school, so they decided that after over 2 years, this was worth giving long-distance a shot.

...Through College...

As God was calling Julia to Clemson University and Noah to the University of Georgia for college, they responded with the prayer that if they were meant to be together, God would make this long-distance (and southern football rivalry) relationship work. He surely answered that prayer as Noah and Julia were able to change in ways that grew them as individuals and together while enjoying many fun weekends introducing each other to their separate college towns and friends. With just one more year of long-distance to go, they are ready to be in the same city again but are thankful for these years of learning and growing in their relationships with God and each other!

...To the Proposal

On July 31st, Noah and Julia had planned to go out for a nice dinner for the first time in a while as the summer was coming to an end. After dinner, Noah had a "game" for him and Julia to play in the car. He drove around Augusta, and every place that they stopped, they had to share a memory together there. After sharing lots sweet words and moments of their relationship, Noah parked the car at Hammonds Ferry and suggested they take a walk. Confused and in heels, Julia let him lead her (so casually, may I add) to the dock on the Savannah River where Noah got down on one knee. After answering YES as quickly as Julia could, the two were joined by one of their best friends capturing the whole thing. Afterwards, Noah surprised Julia with college and high school friends and family to celebrate back at the Kershner's house! And here we are now - feeling so loved, supported, and thankful to God and counting down the days until we are husband and wife!
