Our Wedding

Like all great modern love stories, ours started with an app and a swipe. Soon we were laughing our way through a Halloween trivia night and ended the evening with the sense that something special had just begun.~ Since then, adventure has been at the heart of our relationship, from the ski trip jam sessions to camping under the stars in Moab to exploring new trails to find the perfect alpine lake to swim in. Through it all, conversation came easily, laughter was constant, and we soon realized the ever deepening bond; we found our favorite adventure buddy and best confidant.~ As we look ahead to our wedding day, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, friendship, and joy that has brought us here. We can't wait to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by family, friends, and the beautiful chaos of life we've built together.

Transportation

Getting to the Ceremony

There will be a chartered bus for all guests at the Omni that will transport you between the Omni and Epiphany Church prior to and following the wedding ceremony. There is a church parking lot, but it is fairly small and guests are encouraged to use the shuttle over driving separately. Specific timing of charter bus to be published closer to the event.

Getting to the Hotel

The Omni William Penn Hotel is approximately 20 miles from the Pittsburgh airport. They do not offer a hotel shuttle from the airport, however there are rental &amp; non-car rental options available. Rental Cars:In the new Pittsburgh airport terminal (PIT), car rentals are available a short walk from the baggage claim via covered walkway. Car rental companies available are:Hertz; Budget; Avis; Enterprise; National; Alamo; Dollar; and Sixt Public Transit:Website: https://www.rideprt.org/services/airport-service/There is bus public transit available via the 28X Airport Flyer. Recommended stop to get off is Seventh Ave &amp; William Penn Place. The one-way fare to and from Pittsburgh International Airport is $2.75 with a ConnectCard or cash. Fares are paid upon boarding the bus. If preferred, a ticket vending machine machine is located near Baggage Claim inside Door #2. Rideshare Apps:Uber, Lyft, etcUtilize your phone app to schedule a ride. Price variable by time of day. SuperShuttle Express:Website: https://www.supershuttle.com/locations/pittsburgh-pit/Shuttle service is available 24 hours – an appointment is needed after 6pm.Shuttle reservations must be made 6-12 hours in advance. Hotel Parking

Self parking is available directly across the street from the Omni William Penn for both hotel guests &amp; locals at the Mellon Square parking garage. Weekend rates ($8.00) begin Friday at 5pm, and are $8.00 for full day parking. In/out privileges are not included. Valet parking is available to overnight hotel guests (in/out privileges included). Rate is $55 per night. Please note that oversize vehicle parking options will be limited, so standard size vehicles are encouraged.

Rehearsal &amp; the rehearsal dinner will be a closed event, however we are looking at options for a casual evening cocktail event for any who would like to participate (both in &amp; out of town guests are welcome). This would be a cash bar event. Please let Julia &amp; John know if you are interested as this may influence if we need to book a space.

Around Pittsburgh

There are various attractions and activities available throughout Pittsburgh for Saturday morning, or if you wish to extend your stay before or after. Some that we recommend are (all distances are based on the Omni-William Penn Hotel):

Mount Washington Neighborhood

Approximately a 7 minute drive to the south. Mount Washington is known for their inclines, classic overlooks, and restaurants. The best way to enjoy it is ride one of the inclines up, walk along the upper area, stop to enjoy the views, restaurants, and treats, then ride the other incline down. It is roughly a 20 minute walk between the two inclines. Duquense Incline (7 min drive)Ride a century-old cable car while enjoying an excellent view of downtown Pittsburgh. The South Shore also features some fine dining experiences.Monongahela Incline (6 min drive)A historic incline that was once the only route up "Coal Hill," now known as Mount Washington. There are still remains of a larger parallel freight incline. Now you can enjoy Difiore's Ice Cream up top.Mount Washington Observation Decks &amp; RestaurantsMany varied restaurants and shops overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline and Point State Park.

Oakland

Approximately a 12 min drive to the east. Phipps Conservatory &amp; Botanical Gardens (11 min drive)Since 1893, Phipps has been a world class garden experience. They have an expansive 14 room glasshouse and 23 distinct gardens in their 15 acre setting.Carnegie Museum of Art (8 min drive)Enjoy various collections, including the longest running international art exhibit in North Armerica.Carnegie Museum of Natural History (7 min drive)See the impressive display of real dinosaur fossils and other historic treasures.The Cathedral of Learning, University of Pittsburgh (9 min drive)Features 31 "nationality rooms" as the world's second largest gothic building.

Point State Part (5 min drive; 15 min walk)Located where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers form the Ohio River, "the Point" is a National Historic Landmark and is the home of the remains of both Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt.Fort Pitt Museum (7 min drive; 18 min walk)Features exhibits that tell the story of Western Pennsylvania's role in the French &amp; Indian War, the American Revolution, and development of Pittsburgh.Heinz History Center (4 min drive; 11 min walk)Affiliated with the Smithsonian, the Heinz History Center features 6 floors of Pittsburgh history, such as culture (Mister Rogers' Neighborhood), sports, and industry (Heinz Ketchup).The Strip District Shops &amp; Restaurants (6 min drive; 25 minute walk)A historic section of the city that is now a cultural melting pot, the Strip District has warehouses converted into restaurants, shops, and grocers. You can walk through street stands selling shirts, jewelry, and snacks or appreciate the beautiful architecture of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
