Our Wedding

In August 2021, Chris and Julia met at a bar called McClouds. Thankfully, they had mutual friends that made it easy to come up with a reason for Chris to say "Hi". After playing hard to get for what felt like forever, she finally said "Yes" to dinner! After that date, the rest is history. They moved in together May 2023 and have built an amazing life together here in Kitsap County. With tons adventures both far and close to home, they are making unforgettable memories along the way with some unforgettable people.

What's the venue like?

The Old Alcohol Plant Inn is a historic building with roots dating back over a century. Constructed in 1910, Charles H. Adams, father of the famous photographer Ansel Adams, originally owned and operated the building. The Classen Chemical Company used a sawdust distillation process to produce their alcohol. After several ownership changes and property renovations, the newly named Old Alcohol Plant pays tribute to its rich history and operates as a hotel, restaurant, and event venue for the area. The reception will offer both indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing guests to enjoy the atmosphere inside and the scenic views outside. Are children invited?

Due to limited space and our desire to keep the celebration intimate, we’ve decided to make the reception an adults-only event, with a few exceptions for certain family members. We hope you understand, and we’re excited to celebrate with you!

What time should I arrive?

The reception will be from 4:00pm - 10:00pm. Depending on how long you'd like to stay and celebrate with us, come anytime during those hours!

What will the weather be like?

Washington summers are beautiful and typically have average temperatures of low to mid 70s (°F) during the day. At night, the temperature can drop to the mid 50s (°F).

Will there be food and drinks?

There will be appetizers and and open bar.

Out-of-towners should fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The main airlines for SEA are Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines. Other major carriers that fly into SEA include American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines.

To get to the venue, it is best to drive yourself. If you are flying in, we would recommend renting a car at the airport. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport hosts a number of car rental companies including Alamo, Enterprise, and Hertz. For information renting a car, visit the website below.

Whether you'd like to stay near the airport or be close to the venue, we have options for you!

Seattle

Seattle is the largest metropolitan city in Washington. If you stay downtown, choosing a hotel here will put you close to the airport and to the hustle and bustle of the city. While it's further away from the venue, there are different options on how to arrive there. One way is to drive down and around the Puget Sound and over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Another way to get to the reception is to take the infamous Washington State Ferries around the Puget Sound. If you choose this option, we recommend taking the Seattle-Bainbridge Island ferry as there are multiple crossings a day and only takes 35 minutes to cross the water. Gig Harbor

Just north of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Gig Harbor is a quiet maritime town with a mix of small business and major retailers. Explore the the boutiques in the downtown area while taking views of the waterfront.40 minutes to airport // 1 hour to reception

Bremerton

Bremerton is home to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, one of four public shipyards in the nation and where the bride works! This town is home to military and non-military families, like the bride and groom. Bremerton also has a port for ferries to Seattle: an car ferry (like Bainbridge Island) and a walk-on only fast ferry. Having these boats allow for easy day trips to Seattle for local. Staying here will provide evenly split time traveling between the airport and the reception.1 hour to airport // 50 minutes to reception

Silverdale

Located in the center of Kitsap County, Silverdale is one of the main towns in the area and houses the most major retailers for the county. While small in size, it's a one stop shop for its bustling community. Enjoy the water views of Dyes Inlet while walking around Silverdale Waterfront Park, staying at a nearby hotel, or going out for dinner. This is also a great option for evenly splitting the driving time between the airport and the reception.1 hour airport // 45 minutes to reception

Poulsbo

Nicknamed "Little Norway," Poulsbo is a town that was founded by immigrant Norwegians in the 1880s. Its downtown area is Scandinavian themed with local shops lining the main road. This is another common day trip for Seattleites to enjoy. Be sure to visit the famous Sluy's Bakery while visiting!1 hour and 10 minutes to airport // 40 minutes to reception

Bainbridge Island

Bainbridge Island is a common day trip for Seattleites. It's home to several wineries and local shops that are worth a visit. Fun fact: Bainbridge Island is the birthplace of pickleball. The island has beautiful outdoor attractions to visit including the Japanese gardens at Bloedel Reserve and Pia the Troll (one of five trolls found in Washington) in Skai Park. The quickest way to access the island from the airport is to take the Seattle-Bainbridge Island ferry from downtown Seattle. From the ferry terminal:1 hour and 10 minutes to airport (including ferry ride) // 55 minutes to reception

Jefferson County

Jefferson County is a rural, quiet area of Washington that gives visitors a break from their faster paced lifestyle. Cities in the county include Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock-Irondale (location of venue), Chimacum (the groom's hometown), and Port Townsend. This area will put guests closest to reception but further away from the airport. Downtown Port Townsend has Victorian-Era buildings with a ferry port traveling to and from Whidbey Island. With Port Hacklock-Irondale as a reference point:1 hour and 30 minutes minimum to airport // 5 minutes minimum to reception
