Her story…..My friend suggested I sign up for online dating and I shrieked at the idea. I reluctantly signed up with no expectations. Messages poured in….delete, delete, delete, ctrl alt delete was my repeated response to the nonsense I was receiving. Included in the group of messages about to be deleted was Carlos' message. I unchecked his and deleted the rest. The only message left to read was his. I smiled at his message because it was so corny but it made me think before replying. We messaged back and forth some time before we agreed to meet up. October 13, 2012 we met and our conversations flowed so easily. I knew instantly he was genuine, kind and quiet. I'm loud and can talk and talk and talk. We had different personalities so I asked myself, How will this work out? You know that saying, "opposites attract?" I believe that! Look at us now!I knew I loved Carlos because my heart ached when I was away from him too long, even for just one day. Just talking and being with him made me feel at ease. We could be together doing absolutely nothing and I was happy with that. Random smiles just looking at him and hugs just because. I wanted to spend every day, every hour, every minute and every second with him. Carlos had it hard because it wasn't just me he had to prove himself to. It was also to the first love of my life…Cameron. I had to see a deep connection between them. Cameron had to love Carlos and if he didn't then the relationship between Carlos and I had to end. It was hard at first because Carlos did not know how far he could go with Cameron knowing Cameron's biological dad was in his life. Once we got through the kinks, Carlos became a part of our lives forever. Carlos was laid off from his job and it was hard for him. He was determined to find a new job and to take care of us. He went on a job interview in Seattle,WA and was offered a job. How could I resign from my job, sell my house and relocate to the opposite end of the United States of America? As R. Kelly said in his song, "Step in the Name of Love"….I did it for love! I'm so glad I listened to MY heart. We spoke about marriage in the beginning of our relationship and we did not bring it up again even when we moved. I wanted a proposal that was not forced. It was in Madrid, Spain on April 10, 2016 when I said YES to Carlos' proposal for marriage. I was surprised! He wowed me for sure with all the details he put into the proposal. I am so blessed to have found Carlos. God knew my plan! I can't wait to be Mrs. Govantes. His story….It was the fall of 2012 and little did I know my life was going to change forever. I firmly believe that you cannot seek out the person whom you're meant to be with, but rather they will find you when it is the right time. When Julie and I met, I was not in the mindset of seeking out a long term relationship. It didn't take long for me to realize that Julie was "the one". I remember telling my best friend that "I was going to marry this girl" about 3 or 4 weeks after we started dating.I reached out to Julie on an online dating site after seeing her beautiful smile in her posted photographs. After exchanging a few emails and phone calls we met for a lunch date. Me, being the funny guy I am, recommended Chick-Fil-A. Her, being the high-class woman that she is, demanded steak! So we compromised and met at Longhorn Steak House on October 13, 2012. We hit it off and immediately began spending more time together over the course of the next few weeks.I knew Julie was the one for me not only because I loved every moment I spent with her, but because she made me a better person. Julie and I have different personalities, but they complement each other perfectly. Her biggest strengths are my weaknesses. Julie has also helped me gain a self-confidence about myself that was never there before. These are just some of the reasons I cannot live without this wonderful woman.Meeting Julie also brought another wonderful person into my life. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Cameron's life. Teaching him about sports, life, sharing my hobbies with him and watching him grow into an amazing young man is an amazing feeling and I couldn't be happier with my family.In the summer of 2014, life threw us a curve ball when I was laid off from my job in Florida. It's funny how life works out though. There were two important things that came from this life event. 1) I was overwhelmed by the love and support that Julie gave me. Things often change when the going gets tough, but Julie stood by my side and provided plenty of encouragement to get me through this difficult time. 2) A most interesting opportunity presented itself – a job offer from zulily in Seattle.There was no way I was going to move to Seattle without the two loves of my life. I was fully prepared to accept an inferior role at a company in Miami because I knew that no matter how successful I was in my career, I would not be happy without Julie and Cam. But, Julie being Julie, she understood how great of an opportunity the job offer was and we agreed to embark on a new adventure together on the West Coast. New city, new jobs, new friends but one thing remained the same – my love for Julie and Cam.Julie and I both love to travel and explore together so when we planned our vacation to Europe, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to propose. I wanted to make the trip something she would never forget and made a proposal plan for when we were in Madrid, including a photo session in a beautiful park and dinner reservations. Despite all of my planning efforts, life happened, and our luggage was left behind during our connecting flight. Without trying to ruin the surprise I convinced Julie to buy some clothes because we were going to dinner at a "fancy restaurant" with a dress code. While walking through the park, following the photographers to our secret spot, my heart was pounding in my chest. I tried to play it cool so as not to tip off what was about to happen. As we approached the place where I was going to propose it began to rain! But, I saw this as poetic justice, because even though everything wasn't "perfect" it was perfect for us. Julie said yes and I was overjoyed. Once again we get to begin a new adventure together.
