Michael: Online dating can be awkward as you're simply responding to how clever (or not) that someone can be writing about themself. Then there's the need to post good (hopefully somewhat recent) photos that will attract attention. I remember Julie's profile specifically mentioned she was a fan of British comedies (winner!) and she looked really happy in her photos with a great smile. That was enough for me to reach out and start the quick exchange of messages that led us to our first date days later. This was the start of something special!

Julie: He's right, writing a profile about yourself is hard. I remember thinking, just write what you literally like doing ... and that was watching British comedies. I liked Mike's profile because he was thorough in his description of himself and seemed sincere. We started chatting and he was considerate of asking if I was a night owl (nope). He was great at keeping things moving forward with a phone call the next day and then a date soon after. When we first met in person, I felt at ease quickly. It is a bit of a fairy tale to think that based on the decision to mention liking British TV, we have now vacationed in England and will be returning there for our honeymoon.
