Our Story

Julie was born and raised in Carrollton, GA. She graduated from UGA (GO DAWGS!), and moved to NYC where she lived for five years before going back to school at UNC, Chapel Hill to get her masters. While at UNC, she interned at Liberty Mutual in Boston and fell in love with the people. She later accepted a full-time offer which would start after graduation, July 2020. Tom was born and raised in Worcester, MA. He graduated from Providence College and is now an Accounting Manager at Crosscountry Consulting. Tom has lived his entire adult life in Boston, specifically Southie, with his two best college friends. There is not one thing you can tell this man about Boston sports that he does not already know and love! Now is the part where Tom’s and Julie’s path finally cross, but first, the pandemic. No one was moving or working in an office after Julie graduated in May of 2020. Liberty told her she could work wherever she wanted for an unknown period of time, but after graduation, she knew she had to get to Boston. Everyone thought she was crazy for moving to a new city alone during a pandemic, but she spent most of her time with her sweet dog, Lola, and her sorority sister, Abbi Goddu and Abbi’s husband, Jason. In September of 2020, Abbi invited Julie to her home to watch the opening UGA game. Jason had also invited one of his best friends from college, Tom. When Julie met Tom, she took one look at him and told Abbi, “He’s cute!”. Abbi told Julie he was single and a great guy, but nothing really came of their introduction. Then about six weeks later, Abbi invited Julie to watch another UGA game, and unbeknownst to her, Jason had also invited Tom. It was a perfect night. Tom and Julie spent the evening chatting and cheering on the Dawgs. About three hours in to the night, Julie actually called her mom from the bathroom and said, “Mom, I found him. I'm gonna marry this man”. Tom asked Julie out the next day. About six months later, Abbi and Jason revealed they had secretly set them up, but didn't tell them to alleviate the pressure. Thank you, Abbi and Jason! Julie and Tom have been together ever since. They now live in Southie with Lola in an apartment on Athens Street. Some would say its just a coincidence that its Athens Street, the name of the city that’s home to the Georgia Bulldawgs, the team that brought Tom and Julie together, but they don’t believe in coincidences!

The Courtyard Marriott is in the center of town and walkable to all the local restaurants and shops! See below for shuttle services for the weekend.

Carrollton is about a 50 miles from the airport. Although we will have shuttle services to and from the welcome drinks and wedding, we highly recommend renting a car for travel to and from the airport and any daytime needs.
